    Can'e load enough historical data from ESignal in NT7

    Hi, I was trying NT7 and for all the ES data both intraday and daily, I can only load historical data from March 10, 2011. I have changed the setting to load more, but it wouldn't load.

    In NT6.5 though, I can load historical data as much as ESignal gives me, which is 6 months of intraday, and few years of daily.

    Did I miss something on NT7, not very familiar with it? Please help

    Seems like only futures have this problem, like NQ YM
    but Stocks are ok, I tried both intraday and daily on AAPL, it loaded enough data for me.....

      Hi net4walk,

      Thank you for your post.

      Two methods to test this issue:
      1. Can you please create a chart for the ES ##-## symbol as that will represent a continuous contract and then see if there is more extensive historical data when loading the continuous contract.

      2. Can you please go to Tools > Options > Data and please clarify what your current Merge Policy is set to as the March 10th date corresponds with roll-over date.

        Hi Ryan,

        ES ##-## Daily & intraday loaded OK.
        The Merge Policy was set as "MergeBackAdjusted", no place found to set the roll-over date. My version is 7.0.1000.4

        What I need is to load enough data on current contract not the continuous contract, please let me know how to do it. Thanks

          Hi net4walk,

          Thank you for that clarification.

          What will occur within NinjaTrader when using that Merge Policy is that the data from eSignal for previous contract months will be merged, and back adjusted to display as part of the 06-11 contract.

          So if you would like to view more extensive historical data for the 06-11 contract please change your Merge policy to Do Not Merge and then you should be able to load more extensive data. In my tests I was able to get data back to about December when using the Do Not Merge feature for the 06-11 contract.

              Hi,

              I am having the same problem. I have mergepolicy set to merge back adjusted but I can not load data before the start of the current contract month... thanks

                Can you please clarify the following items:
                What version of NinjaTrader are you using? You can check under Help -> About
                Who are you connected to? This is displayed by green on lower left corner of the Control Center window.
                What instrument have you selected?
                (For a chart) what interval is selected?
                Is there an error message listed in the Log tab of the Control Center

                  I am using current version, downloaded today.
                  Connecting to eSignal
                  CL Nymex
                  All chart types, daily, minute, range, etc..

                      Hi syxforex,

                      Thanks for that clarification.

                      Can you please reset the instruments and then view the CL 10-11 contract. To reset your instruments please: go to the Tools menu, select the Options menu item, select the Data tab, and then click on 'Reset Instruments'.

                      Then if the issue persists can you please clarify the version of the eSignal application you are using.

                          Hi syxforex,

                          On the chart can you please right-click and then select Data Series. How many days worth of data are you loading in the chart.

                          Also, if you create a chart for the 09-11 contract separately does that data load.

                            I'm trying to load 100-200 in my charts but none generate any bars prior to the day October became the front month. I loaded a 365 day daily chart for the 09 contract and it popluated bars for the period it was the front month, ending where the octobers begin filling my october charts

                              Hi syxforex,


                              In testing this I am unable to duplicate the issue so can you please go to Tools > Instrument Manager and then search for the CL contract and highlight and hit the Delete button.

                              This will remove the instrument from the database, and then please go Tools > Options > Data and then please reset the instruments to add the CL contract back in.

                              Then please if the issue persists can you please forward an email to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and please reference this thread.

                              Include in that email the log and trace diagnostic files:
                              You will find the log file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder.
                              • The log file will be named log.YYYYMMDD.txt

                              You will find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
                              • The trace file will be named trace.YYYYMMDD.txt
