Copy line error

    Copy line error

    Hi!
    Very often (several times a day) when I copy a line the copied line either appears somewhere on the chart or disappears at all.

    If it appears, the angle is wrong (not parallel).
    If it does not appear, the indicator panes will not show any data!

    I attached 2 pics, one before and one after copy.

    Just got an other example where the indicator pane disappears. I copied and pasted the red line, as you can see, no indicator pane and no 2. red line on the chart.

      Thank you for reporting this.

      I'm not seeing the same behavior on my end. Can you detail for me the steps you're taking?

      Also, could you please open a new workspace (File > Workspaces > New Workspace) and see if the issue occurs there as well.

        Kyle,
        here you go:
        - new work space
        - new chart EURUSD 5 Min / 10 days / session template "_Forex Europe"
        - closed chart trader
        - snap mode: disabled
        - stay in draw mode: on
        - draw line
        - right click to end draw mode
        - click on line
        - ctrl-c ctrl-v

        Thats it. Pasted line starts at the same point as copied line but goes horizontal to the left.

          Does the same thing occur if you don't use the template?

          Are you using the 7.0.1000.4 release? (Help > About)

            The same thing occurs w/o the template.

            I just recognized I am on releas .3. I didn't know that there is a new release.
            I will update to .4 since it makes no sense to test this on an old release.

                      Hi DH008,

                      Our next step here will be to completely uninstall and then reinstall NinjaTrader. We can save your settings, but I would ask that you first test with the clean installation to see if the issue persists there as well.

                      1.) Backup:
                      Please create a backup of your settings using the steps listed at the following link: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt7/creating_a_backup_archive.htm

                      You will also need to save a copy of your license key. You will find the key listed in the Help > License Key menu.

                      2.) Reinstallation:
                      After backing up, please follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader:
                      1. Close all running applications.
                      2. Then from the Start menu select --> Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs.
                      3. From Add and Remove Programs select NinjaTrader 7 and click Remove.
                      4. Then manually delete the folder "NinjaTrader 7" located under Start --> My Documents.
                      5. Then you will need to clear your internet browser cache and history. You will clear this from within your internet browser (with IE, Tools-->Options, delete cookies and files, clear ! history).
                      6. Reboot your machine.
                      7. Once these steps are completed, download NT7 from the link below:

                      3.) Testing:
                      After reinstalling NinjaTrader, please test and see if the issue persists.

                      4.) Restoring Settings:
                      If the issue does not persist on the clean installation, please restore your settings using the steps listed here: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt7/restoring_a_backup_archive.htm

                      5.) Testing:
                      After restoring your settings, please test again and let me know if the issue pops up.

                          Hi Kyle,
                          I can not re-install NT for the following reasons:

                          - It takes too long. I already did this 2 or 3 times during the early beta test with much less data and less functions in work and it always took nearly a day.
                          - I have strategies and indicators with a lot of parameters in place. I don’t like to re-enter all the parameters of these strategies and indicators. Even if I would not loose these settings, checking if they are still ok is a lot of work.
                          - I don’t want to loose all my chart drawings.
                          - I am not sure if I have enough space on my hard disk to backup the collected tick data
                          - If something goes wrong with the backup archive (already happened to me) I will loose all my data.
                          - I don’t like to interrupt support to my NT clients.

                          I hope you understand that for the above reasons it is not possible to completely re-install NT every time there is a bug in the program. I hope there is another way to solve the problem.

                            We're at the point where I'm unable to replicate your results and know of no other items to try. Keep in mind that you'll be backing up so no settings will be lost.

                            The entire purpose of this is to remove your custom settings from the software. (I do not have your custom settings in place on my end, which may be the reason I don't encounter the same issue.) Unfortunately, the only way to move forward that I can think of is to reinstall, though I do understand it is somewhat inconvenient to you.
