NT7 does not start on the Windows 7

Hi, I have just downloaded the NT7 and tried to install it on my laptop.
It is i7 powered HP laptop with Win7 64bit without SP1.

I managed to install the program and tried to start it.
It crashes with a message that Ninja Trader has detected a problem and needs to shut down...

Restarting and running again does not help. It works swell on my desktop (Win Vista - 32bit) but I really need to run it on my laptop (desktop is in inconvenient loacation and I use it very rarely).

Thank you for your post.

Try temporarily moving all workspace files out of the default directory and see if that clears up these issues. Here are the instructions:

To temporarily move the workspace (.xml) files,
1. Close NinjaTrader
2. locate the NinjaTrader workspace folder (My Documents / NinjaTrader 7 / workspaces)
3. then select >
4. cut >
5. & paste all of these files to a temporary folder (e.g. on your desktop)

Please let me know once you complete this & if you are then able to start the platform and run it without issue.

Unfortunately I am not sure what causes the crash. However, I notice that you have an old beta version installed (7.0.0.22).

Can you please download and install our latest version (7.0.1000.4) from the link below.

http://www.ninjatrader.com/download-registration.php

Please enter your license key and hit Enter. You can find your license key at Control Center-->Help-->License Key.

Subsequently click version 7.0.1000.4 and you will be directed to a new webpage that contains step by step instructions to install version 7.0.1000.4.

Let me know if the crash persists after installing the latest version.

As of today I have the same problem in NT7.0.0.4

I cannot compile anything from within Ninja.

In the trace it says asembly NinjaTrader.Custom (7.0.0.3) not found. (Why does it search for 7.0.0.3 but I am on 7.0.0.4 ?)



Acutally the assembly is there in the in usual bin\Custom directory.

Only change today was that I used Visual Studio 2010 (Net 4 ) for something else.

Some default path missing for Net 3.5 and NinjaTrader 7 ?

in the end I traced it down to a corrupted assembly (my own code) I that NinjaTrader.Custom.dll needed.

Therefroe NinjaTrader.Custom.dll would not load.

A similar problem, please help

I am trying to install (from fresh, no previous installation) the latest version (not beta) on win 7. I have the latest .net (v4.0.30319).

We are more able to accurately diagnose platform issues by looking at the actual diagnostic files; Log & Trace.

Please send your Log & Trace files for the date this occurred.

From the NinjaTrader Control Center go to Help > ‘Email to Support…’ and check the box by “Log & Trace file”

Please make sure to include a reference to this forum thread.

I have NT7 installed on a windows 7 machine. I found it was locking up every time I tried to open it so uninstalled and reinstalled. Hower its still locking up and unable to open up. Seems to be trying to open previous workspace/ indicators. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your post.

As a first step you will want to move all workspace files out of the default directory and see if that clears up these issues. Here are the instructions:

To temporarily move the workspace (.xml) files,
1. Close NinjaTrader
2. locate the NinjaTrader workspace folder (My Documents / NinjaTrader 7 / workspaces)
3. then select >
4. cut >
5. & paste all of these files to a temporary folder (e.g. on your desktop)

If you are still unable to start the platform then send your most recent Log & Trace files so we can review on our end.

From the NinjaTrader Control Center go to Help > ‘Email to Support…’ and check the box by “Log & Trace file”

Hi Chip,

That has worked thank you.

I also have NT7 installed ony my desktop which runs windows XP. NT7 seems to freeze up quite often and think this might be due to some of the indicators I have created which might not be coded in the most memory efficient manner. I will send you the trace file for you to diagnose.
