NT 7.0.1000.2 does not start on Windows Vista 64 bit

    NT 7.0.1000.2 does not start on Windows Vista 64 bit

    NT 7.0.1000.2 does not start on Windows Vista 64 bit anymore since Today (04/16/2011) after latest massive Windows Vista Update was applied. Immediately after NT gets started system brings pop up with message "NinjaTrader application has stopped working".

    Could not upgrade to NT 7.0.1000.4 ever.


    Should I rollback the Windows Vista Update and perform operations described for Windows 7 SP1.

    Attachment contain list of updates that was applied to operating system on 04/16/2011. Maybe you could point out particular update caused the problem.

    Thank you for your post.

    I am going to check with our Level II Support to see if they can provide some more information on this issue.

    One of us will reply back to this thread with any additional info/updates.

      Please send your most recent Log & Trace files.

      From the NinjaTrader Control Center go to Help > ‘Email to Support…’ and check the box by “Log & Trace file”

      Make sure to include a reference to this forum thread.

        Hello byi777,

        Did you already send us your log and trace files? I did not see them yet in our email.

        Could it be you received an error message when you tried to use 'Mail to Support'?
        If so, please send them manually. You can find log and trace files at the following locations.

        Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> Log--> log.20110418 for today. (log.yyyymmdd for any other date)

        Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> Trace--> trace.20110418 for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

          Hello, Jason,

          My NT7 became fully nonoperational and I do not have access to client interfaces.
          I've send files to [email protected]

          BTW, is this the only my problem or you have similar complains from other NT7 user working on Vista platform?

            I did receive your log and trace files and am going to test this issue further, and once I know more I will follow-up there.

              Hi, Ryan,

              Those log and trace files I sent you - latest files which were generated by NT7 when it was operational before system upgrade. Since than NT7 would not start and no log and trace files were generated.

                Hi,

                Can you please go to Windows Start Menu > Control Panel > Programs and Features and then please Repair the NinjaTrader 7 installation, and then after repairing please attempt to open the application.

                  Got the same after repair - the same error immediately after start with message " NinjaTrader application has stopped working"

                    In that case please follow the instructions below to re-install the Microsoft .NET Framework on your PC.
                    • Terminate any applications running on your PC
                    • Go to the Windows Control Panel
                    • "Add/Remove programs" for XP users or "Uninstall a program" for Vista users
                    • Locate and uninstall the .NET Framework
                      • If your highest version is 4.0 or greater than do not continue with these instructions and let us know and we will follow up with further instructions
                      • If your highest version is 3.5 then proceed and uninstall this version and skip the next line
                      • If your highest version is 2.0 then proceed and uninstall this version

                    • Install version 3.5 of the .NET Framework which contains the 2.0 version which is required by NinjaTrader 6.5 (Download from here)
                    • After the install please check for updates to the .Net Framework with the Windows Update function

                    Note: Do not reboot your PC in between these steps as this can potentially create more issues that we are unfortunately not qualified to assist with.

                        Please follow the instructions below to repair Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on your PC.
                        Download and run the .Net 4 installer from below. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

                        Once ran you will receive two options if .Net 4 is installed.
                        Select "Repair .Net Framework 4 to its original state"
                        Click "Next" and follow other prompts
                        Once the setup application is finished it may ask you to restart your computer, even if it does not please do so.
                        Please retest your issue and see if it is resolved.
