    ES ##-## Chart not displaying

    Hi,

    This might be related to an automated strategy issue... but perhaps not.

    For some reason, I can't get a chart for ES ##-## to display. I've looked at historical data manager, and confirmed the data for ES ##-## is there (retrieved from IQFeed).

    I then do a New Chart, add "ES ##-##", and don't modify any of the default options in the right pane. Last, Minute, 1... Load data based on "Days", 5, end day 5/23/11, Session Template "Use Instrument Settings".

    The chart opens up, but there's no data. I did a "Reload historical data" within the chart, and I can see in the control center status bar data is loading... but still, nothing is drawn in the chart.

    I haven't had this problem with any other instrument. (EDIT: Same problem exists with ES 06-11... weird.)

    Thank you for your post.

    I'd recommend deleting all the existing ES data and reloading from IQ's servers. The steps required to delete data are outlined here: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...t7/editing.htm

      Hi,

      Tried that, didn't work. I disconnected from my feeds, deleted both ES ##-## and ES 06-11. I then reconnected, tried to open a chart for ES 06-11. Nothing. I did a "reload historical data" within the chart, still nothing.

      I checked in the historical data manager again. ES ##-## still isn't there, but ES 06-11 does have all of the correct data.

      There are no useful warning/error messages in the log.

        Do you receive last price updates when loading ES in a SuperDOM or does the window remain blank?

          I'm not at all familiar with SuperDOM, so perhaps I'm not using it correctly... but when I tried it with ES ##-##, ES 06-11, and TF 06-11... the window remained blank. This is while I'm connected to IQFeed, by the way.

          The control center order tab does show ask/bid/last prices for all of the instruments: ES 06-11, ES ##-##, TF 06-11.

            Thanks for checking that.

            Could you please open a new workspace (File > Workspaces > New Workspace), then try to load a 1 minute ES chart therein? Same issue?

                Please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with 'ATTN: Kyle' in the subject line.

                In the message, please include the following:
                1.) A link to this forum thread.

                2.) Your most current trace file.
                You'll find this diagnostic file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
                Today's file will be named 'trace.20110522.txt'.

                  Trace file emailed to you. I looked it over, didn't see anything suspicious.

                  By the way, time and sales for ES 06-11 works fine.

                    I just had the same effect a few minutes ago!

                    Version 7.05
                    connected to CQG Demo
                    Chart with CL 07-11, 1 Minute data
                    Dom with ES 06-11
                    everything was ok for several hours

                    then changed the chart instrument to ES 06-11
                    -> no bars, scale changed to 0 - 0.01
                    -> historical data was there
                    -> Dom data Ok

                    changed back to CL 07-11
                    -> same problem now!

                    cleared the complete cache in\db
                    -> problem remains

                    Connected to IQFeed and reload all historical data (ctrl+shift+R)
                    -> no bars on chart
                    -> data was updated in the historical data manager
                    -> Dom data still working

                    New chart without any indicator
                    -> same problem

                    Disconnected both CQG and IQFeed
                    -> same problem

                    Shutdown and restart, no connection
                    -> charts are ok again

                        Hi,

                        Just to follow up, I reinstalled, and gave up on migration. I just started a new working space, and will create new connections from scratch. The ES problem went away.
