    Setting up Mail

I need to use User Authentication to send email via SMTP with my provider. Unfortunately, there is no option in the Misc tab. Is there someway to enable User Authentication in NT? This is rather important and a very big oversight if its not possible.

    Hello FxQuad,

Can you please clarify what you refer to as 'User Authentication' per the email setup. The Misc-tab of the Options menu does include User and Password fields.

Many SMTP servers require User Authentication when sending mail.. In many cases it is simply a re-use of the Receive user information. As of this moment, I receive an Error indicating that my SMTP server requires User Authentication.

User Authentication is a security measure found within many SMTP servers.

Below is a direct copy and paste from the FAQ of my provider.

      Outgoing Server (SMTP): smtp.1and1.com
      SMTP port: 25 or 587
Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication (user name and password)
Optional: Secure SMTP encryption using TLS (using either port)

I notice in another post you submitted you state that Gmail works for you. Am I correct you experience these errors when using a different email?

I will forward your feedback regarding User Authentication to my superiors.

That is correct, specifically1and1.com; Gmail works, 1and1.com doesn't.

As far as I know the User and Password fields are used for User Authentication. Could it be you incorrectly entered this information in the Misc-tab?

Can you please re-enter your information (case sensitive) and check if the error remains.

I specifically checked that by recreating a new password, the username is one I use all the time

                Thank you for checking.

What other settings do you like to see in the Misc-tab to configure your email? The User and Password fields are used to authenticate users.

Could it be security software (firewall, anti-virus) is blocking the connection to the smtp server on your end?

The details are correct; I've checked, re-checked and checked again; changed passwords; ensured NT is allowed through my firewall. The user information works fine in MT4, yet fails with NT. This using simple copy and past for all but the password.

                  Both Email setup panels:

Does it make a difference if you enable SSL?

I wish it did, I've setup NT to use my gmail account...not my first choice but the only one available

Now to get NT to send me price alerts via email.

Thank you for clarifying. Yes, please use your Gmail account to send emails from NinjaTrader. Unfortunately, I am not sure why these errors occur.
