Stop MKT default in DOM

Why does this "STOP MARKET as default" option not work ?

Hi ScottieDog, so you would see this turned to false again after you hit 'Set Default' in the options here?

This option should change the setting in the DOM so that you don´t need to use the middle button click to get a STOP order on the DOM.

Never have I used a DOM before which fills an order at current market when placing an order on the STOP order side of Market Price.

Let´s see how it should work....

CLICK BID below market price - BUY LIMIT ORDER is placed.

CLICK BID above market price - BUY STOP order is placed.

CLICK ASK above market price - SELL LIMIT is placed.

CLICK ASK below market price - SELL STOP is placed.


What actually happens ....

CLICK BID below market price - BUY LIMIT ORDER is placed. WORKS as it should.

CLICK BID above market price - Order immediately filled at current market price. UT OH

CLICK ASK above market price - SELL LIMIT is placed. WORKS as it should.

CLICK ASK below market price - Order immediately filled at current market price. UT OH

Who has ever used a DOM before that does that ? If I click on the BID above current market price I want to place a BUY STOP by default, why the hell would I want it to fill immediately at market ? I just press the MARKET button for that - At the very least it should place a BUY STOP LIMIT order.....

Scottie, this setting will only default the middle mouse button default order type either to Stop Market or Stop Limit, it's not meant to cover those other scenarios.

If you just press the left button above the current market, it's placing a marketable limit order > will fill immediately (this price or better limit order principle).

Basically a market order, which can be achieved using the designated MARKET button. This "better limit principle" totally disregards what should happen and looses a function.

And this platform costs how much? Without customizable options for a simple DOM operation which is standard on all DOMs I ever used.
