    Error Message with IB

    Hello Ninjas,

    I'm sure the following issue isn't a major problem, but can someone please explain why I keep on getting the following error message (please see attached)

      Hello Carlton,

      The error message indicates the ES 09-11 is either not present or is not configured properly in the Instrument Manager.

      Can you please disconnect IB and go to Control Center-->Tools-->Options-->Data-tab and click Reset Instruments.

      Restart NinjaTrader and connect to IB again. Let me know if the error message persists when requesting data for the ES 09-11.

        Really quick response mate.

        Reset the instruments, as you instructed, and the error disappeared.

        Can you tell me what the problem was?

          Likely, the ES instrument was not configured properly. Resetting the instruments will reset all instrument to their correct default settings.

            I had the same problem too, yesterday. I think it is IB's fault (something wrong with historical dataserver). Today everything is working fine.

              Hello Nick88,

              Good to hear all is fine today. I am not sure if you experienced the same issue as Carlton. He reported the issue today - I am not sure if he experienced the issue yesterday. After Carlton reset the instruments, he was able to receive data which indicates the ES instrument was not configured correctly in NinjaTrader.

              Please let me know if the issue recurs in the future.

                I did not reset anything and still things worked like they should as of this morning. This is kind of expected behaviour when you're working with IB data

                  Hi Jason,

                  Wanted to let you know that the same issue occurred this morning. I have just started NT 7.0 and I'm getting the exact same error message.

                  Is this more serious than originally thought?

                    Hello carlton,

                    I just tested an ES 09-11 chart on my end while connected to IB and it loaded the requested without error.

                    Can you please create a new ES 09-11 chart and check if the error recurs. If so, please try a restart of NinjaTrader and TWS and check again.

                    If the issue remains, please try a reset of the instruments once more and let me know the outcome.

                          Did you reset the instrument list as reccomended? If so, which build of TWS are you using? (Help > About Trader Workstation)

                            In answer to your question, yes I did reset the instrument as suggested and I'm using NT 7.0

                              Hello carlton,

                              Could you please tell us what TWS version you have installed (not the NinjaTrader version). You can check this in TWS at Help-->About TradersWorkStation.

                              Do you still experience the error message? I just created a YM 09-11 minute chart while connected to IB and it loaded the requested data without error.
