    timing

I have several questions on getting precise timing:
    1) is it possible to chart tick data in less than one second intervals? - if so how?
    2) is it possible to display market replay timing in millisecond intervals?
    3) how can I sync NT's clock with IB?
    thx

    Hi nightriderx,

1 second is the smallest interval for time based charts. It's also the smallest resolution for all intervals. NT does not have a clock, but uses frequently your computer date/time. Syncing your computer clock with the built in Windows utility is a good way to get it as accurate as possible and IB likely uses a heavier duty version of this.

We are currently tracking a suggestion to offer millisecond resolution. This suggestion is assigned ID # 1126. Thank you for the feedback.

yes, win 7 comes with the built in sync server with several server options, still none of them seem to match IB perfectly... is there a way to pull the exact time from IB?

There's no way in NinjaTrader to poll IB's time. Best is to ask them if they have any approaches for this.

another question I have is about the data feed. So if I am connected to Kinetick and IB and then I enable a strategy with an IB account - will it run off the IB time/date or off Kinetick's? Is there a way to select which data feed is used by a strategy?

Time stamps are marked according to your computer clock.

What data is supplied will depend on whatever connection is started first. More information on how NT works with multiple connections is available here:

ok. so then if I connect to kinetick first then IB second, why does the control center display "IB" in the connection column when I enable a strategy (trading in IB)?

The connection column in the strategies tab indicates which connection the account is associated with.

The connection used for data is whatever connection is used first, as long as that connection supports the instrument and interval type.

is there a way to check/print which data connection is being used in a running strategy?

You can use the control center, bottom left connection display for this. Whatever connection is to the left edge will be used. as long as it supports the instrument type and interval you're requesting.

right, but if for some reason (error) the first feed does not support the feed...how will I know?

Use the link below to see what instruments types and intervals are supported for each connection. See the section: Understanding the data provided by your connectivity provider

is it possible that an error may occur within NT (or the data feed provider) that causes an instrument that should be supported by the first data feed to erroneously switch to the second data feed? - if so how can I tell if it does?

No, we are not aware of a scenario that causes the connection used for data to follow different rules than are outlined here:
