    Can you backtest an indicator?

I have no programming ability, but would like to learn how to backtest. In particular, An existing indicator like MACDUpDown. It changes color from red to green. If I bought and sold on the color change, I would like to know how it would perform. Is this possible without diving headfirst into programming?

    Hi kevinhenjum,

Thanks for the post. The first place to get started developing strategies is with the strategy wizard. This requires no programming. It's a point and click interface for defining conditions to trade and then resulting actions. Color changes can't be checked here, you would need to break down the conditions for color change and see if the same conditions can be expressed in the strategy wizard. This page shows a few examples of the types of conditions you can express in this interface:
