Price Alerts

Hi Ninjas,

Can someone please tell how to set simple price alerts?

I just want to be alerted in the alerts window when I price is reached.

Carlton, in NT7 there's per default the PriceAlert indicator you could use for this task.

You would put the indicator on your price chart, set the level desired under the price level input paramter and then open up the Alerts window to see it trigger, if you set the ShowTriggerLine to 'true' the level is marked visually as well.

I don't understand setting the price level input parameter.....

You would need to enter here the price level you would be interested in to monitor be alerted to when broken...i.e for the ES 09-11 this might be currently 1322 to the downside...

Would I need to right click on the chart to get the option to set the desired level?

This would be needed if you would like to change the Price level used, as it's an indicator parameter.

If you apply the indicator fresh to your chart (right click on chart > indicators > double click on the PriceAlert one in the list) you can directly enter the value needed into the Price parameter field.

Just one other thing.

Is it possible to set two alerts on the same chart. For example, an alert for when a price reaches above a certain level and and another when the price goes below a certain level?

Yes, that's also possible, you can run multiple instances of this indicator with different levels on your chart.

I would like to ask if it is possible to set the alert automaticlly only at a close of a previous day?

Unfortunately not per default in the PriceAlert indicator but that could be extended via custom programming in our NinjaScript environment. The previous close according to your used session template would for example be given by calling PriorDay OHLC - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...r_day_ohlc.htm
