entries via stop order

Testing out crude futures. For example, Trying to get into a long position after price breakout, but usually the price levels on these are above the current market. Can I submit a buy stop or buy stop limit order above the current price? The superdom/NT doesnt seem to allow this since it might fill immediately. thx

Thank you for your post.

Buy limit orders should be placed below the current market price while Sell Limit Orders should be placed above the current market price.


If you would like to place a Buy order above the current market price, I would suggest using either a Stop Market (Ctrl+Middle Click) or a Stop-Limit (Middle click) order.

Sell Stop orders should be placed below the current market price.

what does it use as trigger for the stop on futures, bid/ask or last?

NinjaTrader has no control over how orders are filled in your live account. If you have questions regarding a fill in your live account, you will want to contact your broker for clarification.

That said, NinjaTrader does control fills in the simulated account. The NinjaTrader simulation engine is designed to operate as realistically as possible, but you can decrease this type of slippage by enforcing immediate fills in the account. Please take the following steps:

• From the Control Center, click Tools > Options to open the options menu.
• In the Options menu, navigate to the Simulator tab.
• In the simulator tab of the options menu, check the box labeled 'Enforce Immediate Fills'.
• Click OK to exit the options menu for the change to be applied.
