NT 7 is running slow and crashes when Instrument Manager is used
Lately I noticed that NT 7.0.1000.8 has started running very slowly and any attempt to do anything in "Instrument Manager" results in a crash "NT application has stopped working".
All of the above happens without any heavy workspaces being opened. In addition, NT stops working after 7-10 minutes of inactivity with the very same message "NT application has stopped working". Uninstalling/installing, updating sql - nothing seems to have any positive effect
Please find the recent trace files attached.
Many thanks in advance.

As a test please use the steps I have provided below to move your current Workspaces:- Close NinjaTrader
- Documents
- NinjaTrader 7
- Workspaces
- Select all files and move to another location on your PC such as your Desktop
- Restart NinjaTrader
Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.Christopher J.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Yes when the database becomes large this may cause performance issues. Please rename your database with the following steps :- Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
- Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> DB--> NinjaTrader.SDF.
- Right click on NinjaTrader.SDF and select "Rename." *Name it "OLDNinjaTrader.SDF."
- Then restart the software and NinjaTrader will create a fresh database file to use
- Unfortunately the following items stored in the old database will be lost ATM Strategy templates, Session templates, Instrument Lists / Custom Instruments and historical trade execution data

Hi Christopher,
I would have thought that 32.5MB should be a medium size type of file these days. Do you have any recommendation on acceptable size for the .sdf file.
The removal of the .sdf file seem to have sorted the crash/performance issue however, the newly created .sdf is 5MB. 32.5MB is only 6 times higher than the default. Any indication on how the size of the sdf file affect performance on different platforms and recommendations for the best hardware would be highly appreciated.
Thank you,Last edited by S60-R; 01-25-2012, 01:35 PM.
