    backup

Hi guys, I'm starting to have problems with my backup, as it's ballooned into a monster and cannot be moved around to backup drives without zipping and even then it's hit or miss if it can be restored.

My backup is 18 gb but I found out today if I backup excluding market replay data then it is only 4 gb. I've basically been recording market data since the beginning of man which explains its wide girth. Anyway I was wondering if there was a way of deleting say the first 6 months of market replay data?

    Thanks
    DJ

    Hi DJ,

    Thanks for posting.

You can delete any unwanted replay data by using the following steps:
    Shut down NinjaTrader.
Open the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > DB > Data folder.
In that folder you'll find a number of sub-folders named in a 'YYYYMMDD' format - just delete any folders with dates you don't want to keep and restart NinjaTrader.

      Data size

Hi Kyle I have been looking through my data files and see some odd things. For some reason the TF file is creating a monster file nearly every day with a different extension .nt2. Usually over 1 gb. Here is a picture. Any idea what is causing this monster? I only have a 10 renko chart for the 10F.

      Thanks. DJ

        Hi DJ,

The nt2 file contains level 2 replay data - but as to why the file is so large, I'm not sure. Can you remind me which data provider you use?

            Hi DJ,

Is your AMP connection Zen-Fire, Trading Technologies or CQG based?

              Zen

Hi, it's only ZEN and I use IB as well as second connection.

              Cheers

                HI DJ,

                Thanks for clarifying.

Which of the two are you connecting to first? Once I know this, I should be able to test on my side next week to see if the size of the files is abnormal.

Hi Kyle, I connect to Zen first. I am actually having problems with TF as well. It seems to be missing the month of august out even though I have merge backadjusted set. All other instruments are ok. To tell the truth I am still unclear on how replay stores the data. I thought it was one file for each instrument per day. So I'm not sure why there is only that large single file there each day just for TF.

                  Cheers
                  DJ

                    Hi DJ,

1.) Per TF, could you please try right-clicking to 'Reload All Historical Data'?

2.) The replay files are broken down in to two files: one which holds price data, the other which holds level II data. One of each of these files would be created per instrument per day (assuming you had access to level II data, which you do).

In your case, it's the level II data which seems abnormal - that said, I'm still in the middle of testing here to see how far off the mark the mark your current results would be.
