    XP 64 Bit Installation Issue - Same as previous version 7 issues

    I have the exact same issue I have had with every version 7 Beta and Production release - 64 bit install does not work the first time.

    Scenario

    Control Panel -> Delete Ninja Trader Version 7.6
    Install Ninja Trader Version 7.7
    No 64 bit executable installed
    32 bit works fine

    Control Panel -> Delete Ninja Trader Version 7.7
    Delete Ninja Trader folder in MyDocuments
    Install Ninja Trader Version 7.7
    No 64 bit executable installed
    32 bit works fine

    Was hoping to get this resolved before the trading day started.

    Thank you for your post.


    I apologize for any inconvenience, you will need to perform a repair installation.


    This means, do not remove NinjaTrader 7 from the Windows Control Panel.


    Use the following link to download NinjaTrader. You can register your current license key which can be found under the Control Center -> Help--> License Key
    http://www.ninjatrader.com/download-registration.php

    Close NinjaTrader and select the 'Repair' option when completing the installer.

        In the Start menu -> Programs do you see the NinjaTrader 7 64-bit shortcut?

        If not, you may need to manually create the shortcut, please check the following folder:

        • C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7\bin64
        • Locate NinjaTrader.exe in this folder
        • Right click this .exe -> Send to -> Desktop (Create shortcut)

                If you have not yet, please restart your PC.

                At this point after you restarted your PC and tried the 7.0.1000.7 installer, please send a note to Support[AT]NInjaTrader[DOT]com.

                Put ATTN: Cameron in the subject and a link to this forum post in the email body.

                Also provide your phone number and when you will next be available for call.

                  Unistall NT 7.7
                  Remove MyDocuments/NinjaTrader 7
                  ReBoot
                  Reinstall NT 7.7
                  Worked this time.

                  Lot's of effort to get this operational.

                      when will it be available again

                      i encountered the same problem. no 64 bit version. i tried to reinstall this morning and now your download site says it is not available.

                      whats going on now.

                          NT support, same issue here, no executable for 64 bit after upgrading from 7.0.1000.6 to 7.0.1000.7


                          We are already in production version 7, and this is copied from the front page of NT:

                          "64-bit NinjaTrader

                          We have added native support for running NinjaTrader in a 64-bit environment. During installation, NinjaTrader will detect the presence of a 64-bit OS and install both 32-bit and 64-bit application icons on your desktop. NinjaTrader will fully utilize a 64-bit multi-core environment especially in the area of strategy development and optimization. There is a catch in that not all of our broker and market data adapters provide native 64-bit DLL's thus however, you can still use the 32-bit version."


                          Since apparently expecting a real fix of the issue after 7 production version is a little too much to hope for, why is it so difficult for NT support to post the makeshift/patched solution here for everyone to see instead of doing it on a email by email basis?

                            Thank you for your post.

                            The email-by-email basis follows up to ensure that the steps in post #9 are followed.


                            If a user is still having issues after these steps then we provide remote support to assist further or see what might be causing the issue. In some cases it has been Anti-Virus software, in others Windows installation permissions.

                              lost all templates, workspaces, and custom indicators

                              Well, I followed the instructions in post #9. Not a good idea for me as removing mydocuments/ninjatrader 7 removed all my collected data, custom indicators ,templates, and workspaces. Yeah, N7 1000.7. works but now I have to spend countless hours rebuilding and installing, all because your upgrade from 1006 to 1007 did not keep the shortcut to 64bit. I've never had this much trouble with any software. Very frustrating. And the support forum is a discombobulated mess. thanks
