    Ninja Trader will not open after installing Windows 7 SP1

    I installed WIn7SP1 and after I am not able to open NT, see error message below. Please advice.

    Thank you for your note.


    Only the latest version of NinjaTrader 7 is compatible with Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
    If you need to get NinjaTrader up and running right away, you will only need to do step one.
    1.)Uninstall SP1 by following these instructions.

    Otherwise, complete all the steps below
    1.)Uninstall SP1 by following these instructions.

    2.) If you have previously installed a 3rd party commercial indicator or strategy via a vendor provided installer program please uninstall these components via the vendor provided uninstaller or the Windows Control Panel "Uninstall or change a program" (might be named Add/Remove Programs)
    3.) Start NinjaTrader 7
    4.) From within the Control Center window, select the menu File > Utilities > Remove NS Assembly
    5.) Within the "Remove NinjaScript Assembly" window, remove all items listed in this window
    6.) Close NinjaTrader
    7.) Uninstall NinjaTrader 7 via Windows Control Panel "Uninstall or change a program" (might be named Add/Remove Programs)
    The next two steps involve the deletion of files related to 3rd party indicators or strategies. Your custom scripts and user data such as trade, chart, workspace data and templates will be maintained.

    8.) Delete the following folder if it exists
      • 32-bit PC ? "C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7"
      • 64-bit PC ? "C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7"



    9.) Delete all files (not folders) within the folder "Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom".

    10.) Your current installation is now ready for upgrade: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/download_download.htm

    You can then re-install Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

      Without removing SP1 Can I just un-install NT and re-install Ninja Trader Latest version on Top? I did NT a back-up before...

        Unfortunately you cannot perform an over-the-top uninstall.

          Unfortunally the way SP1 was installed ...can not be un-installed... Can I un-install NT and install the latest NT version from sctratch? Will it work ok?

            Hi designer,

            That would do the trick. However, be aware that custom setting would be lost as it won't be possible to start NinjaTrader to create a backup ahead of time.

            Please follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader:
            1. Close all running applications.
            2. Then from the Start menu select --> Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs.
            3. From Add and Remove Programs select NinjaTrader 7 and click Remove.
            4. Then manually delete the folder "NinjaTrader 7" located under Start --> My Documents.
            5. Delete any NinjaTrader installation files. This can be done by going to Start --> My Computer --> Search button --> search for (NinjaTrader*) --> select Local C Disk and then press search.
            6. Then you will need to clear your internet browser cache and history. You will clear this from within your internet browser (with IE, Tools-->Options, delete cookies and files, clear history).
            7. Reboot your machine.
            8. Once these steps are completed, download NT7 from the link below:
              Download

            Please let us know if you are able to get up and running after the reinstall.

              I did a NT backup prior to SP1 installation... Can I restore that backup after installing the latest NT version?

                It's a bit hard to say without testing that specific backup, but it should be possible to restore.

                      It seems to be working ok ..I got the recorded data for market replay restored OK... Is there a problem it may cause in future?

                        If things look to have been restored correctly, I'd expect that those settings would continue to function.
