        demarcusross,

The only thing I could see different is perhaps the configuration layout.

However you will still need to disable sharing of the My Documents folder for NinjaTrader to work in Parallels.

            Hello cccube,

            Thank you for your post.

While we do not officially support running NinjaTrader on a Mac; we have had many clients run NinjaTrader on Mac hardware. We have specific installation instructions for Parallels and VMWare Fusion which will allow you to run NinjaTrader on your Mac. Below you will find instructions specific to the available options of running NinjaTrader on a Mac computer.

Hey Cameron, I run Parallels 8 on a demo account with FXCM and have downloaded some indicators from Indicator Warehouse. The system/method I trade uses an 8 tick Mean Renko. That sounds pretty data intensive but I would not know as I'm NOT an NT tech geek. My question is in reference to your reply below about the "steps" BEFORE installing NT. Since I am reading this after I've installed NT and have my indicators installed...I am seeing that once I connect to FXCM, it takes FOREVER for Data to load. By unistalling NT, THEN performing the steps you listed below for Parallels, THEN reload NT, do you think I'll see an improvement on Data speed download? Also, I've upped the Virtual side of my MAC to the MAX of 16MB as per the max limit. Thx in advance for ANY trouble shooting steps I can get to maximize this MAC/Parallels/NT attempt.

                Hello,

So that we may better understand the issue, can you clarify how many charts in total are requesting data, which interval the charts use and how many days of data are requested in each chart? Thank you!

                  Problem using NinjaTrader with Parallels

                  Hello,

I am attempting to run the latest version of NinjaTrader on Windows 8.1 using Parallels 9 for my Mac. I have gotten a similar error message to others in your posts. I tried to follow the solutions posted, but I think there may be some differences in the updated versions of some of the software and I either couldn’t get it to work, or couldn’t find location for some of the mentioned items.

Here is a description of the problem details:

                  Description:
                  Stopped working

                  Locale ID: 1033

I was really excited to get the NinjaTrader platform to run and start using it. Is there any solutions that might help get this running?

                  Thanks

                    Hello,

While we have not seen what changes have been done with Parallels 9, the instructions will be similar.

Go to the Configuration menu, select sharing, and do not share the Windows folders with Parallels.

If this setting is not directly available. you may need to contact Parallels support.

                      Using NinjaTrader with Parallels

Hi Cameron, thanks for your reply. There is a “configure” option under Parallels menu bar and when I select “Sharing” there are the following options:

                      Share Mac:

                      Share Folders: None/Home Folders Only

Shared Profile: Share Mac user folders with Windows (here I can configure just certain folders: Desktop/Documents/Pictures/Music/Movies/Downloads)

Shared Cloud: Share Cloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive

SmartMount: Map Mac volumes to Windows

                      Share Windows:

                      Access Windows folders from Mac
Mount Virtual disks to Mac desktop
                      Share SkyDrive with Mac

So these are the options that are selectable. I did try to deselect the Mac shared profile completely, and then just Documents, but then the error message indicated:

“Unable to open trace file” - It said it was looking for “C:/Users/ianmuhlhauser/Documents/NinjaTrader …”

Then the same sort of error message came up again.

I would gladly purchase a lifetime license for NinjaTrader if I could figure out how to make it work.

                      Thanks.

                        Hello imuhlhauser,
First, uninstall NinjaTrader from the Windows Side.

Then, under the Configuration - Sharing options, uncheck the above quoted options, Parallels will ask to restart the Windows side.

Restart it and then reinstall NinjaTrader. You can use the following link to download NinjaTrader.

                          Using NinjaTrader with Parallels

Ok, thanks I'll give this a try. So you are suggesting that I deselect all of these options for sharing? Just as a note I have my Parallels set up in "coherence" mode so that everything shows up like it is on the Mac desktop. Would it be better to set it up as having the two desktop "sides"?

                          Thanks.

                            Hello,

Yes, you will need to disable those items so they are not shared.

Coherence or Desktop view won't matter and is merely preference.
