    Quantity in Chart Trader

    Hi,

where does Ninja Trader get the quantity from in the Chart Trader?

Is it defined somewhere where I can set it? Currently for the EUR/USD, it default to 0.01M which is not much good for Interactive Brokers - it's below the minimum lot size.

    Thanks

    Hello adamus,

Unfortunately you cannot define the default quantity of ChartTrader. 0.01M will be selected in ChartTrader when you have a forex instrument and connected to IB. I will forward the suggestion to configure the default quantity to Development.

I've got another issue with the quantity.

When I open my chart trader, the ATM strategy is already selected in the dropdown.

However the quantity is the default for forex at IB - $10,000 - which I need to change.

Yet if I click on the ATM strategy select button and select my ATM strategy from the list on that dialog, it sets the quantity field correctly.

So, I need either no default selection for the ATM strategy - leave it on none - or set the quantity to the quantity specified by the ATM strategy?

Having a mish-mash of both is confusing! Certainly reminded me yesterday that I should double check my orders before submitting them.

Can you please set 'ATM strategy' to <None> in ChartTrader and save your workspace. Restart NinjaTrader and check if 'ATM strategy' is still set to <None>.

Hi Jason, could be a work-around but that still sounds bad - the workspace shouldn't save my ATM strategy if it's not going to set the right quantity for it too.

This is a big issue. Often make mistake, I have several charts and sometimes just forget to set the Qty for more than 0.01 in Forex. My broker is IB.

                Hello BankRobber,

The suggestion is on our list of possible future enhancements and assigned to ID# 1063.

If you make use of ATM strategies, you can save an ATM strategy template set to the quantity you like to use. Once you select the ATM strategy in ChartTrader, it will use the quantity you saved. More information regarding ATM strategy templates can be found at the link below.

This is a big issue for me as well. I use a chart linked to the Market Analyzer and every time I navigate to a new instrument the quantity is reset to the "10,000"

                              Feature

This feature was asked for in 2007 - isn't it time it got sorted??
You should be able to set qty in the chart trader via code as well.
