Multiple Customers - Same Machine id

Hi

Here's an odd thing.

Today, I had to do 2 licenses for 2 seperate customers. For both of them, the machine id they gave me coincided with one I already had.

Now - it's not as if I have a million customers, so it's odd that I have any duplicates as the ID looks as unique as a fingerprint (ok - almost).

So - I know you can't reveal the inner workings of it - but is it safe to assume that duplicates will occur.

If so & I get them to append an id to their machine id when registering, will this effect any of the licenses for other 3rd party software they have?

Finally - how does the licensing work in this respect?

For example - if I license machine id
8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3

Would it enable the software for both
8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3 and 8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3-Pete

Similarly if I license machine id
8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3-Pete

Would it enable the software for both
8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3 and 8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3-Pete

Just trying to figure out what to tell the punters.

Hi Pete,

As a NinjaTrader partner, you can always email vendor licensing questions to sales 'at' ninjatrader 'dot' com.

When user puts in a user defined id, they also specify the Vendor name. The appended machine ID will be used for all scripts matching that vendor name.

Once they put in a user defined ID, their machine ID (for that vendor) is considered uniquely as the whole Machine ID + User defined ID.

For example - if I license machine id
8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3

It is only valid for this ID and not the -Pete one.

Similarly if I license machine id
8E669AC5ADA7D9468A1687364EE308F3-Pete

It is only valid for this ID.
