New users profile, re-install?

Dear Support,

Our network admin had to create another user profile on my PC. Everything under c:\users\chris\documents\ has been moved to c:\users\chris000\documents\; including my 2 NT folders.

NT seems to works fine but the NT backup file size is now 50MB and no longer around 2GB. Thus I am not sure 100% if all relatives paths have been updated or if everything is OK.

Should I re-install NT from scratch? knowing I've a few custom strategy, indicators, instruments list and 2GB of daily data for ca. 2000 stocks.

What would you advice?

Do you mean just the NinjaTrader backup folder is not 2GB, or the NinjaTrader 7 folder?

Are you missing any data or custom settings?

Hi Matthew,

My previous backup files were ca. 2GB in size and after this event it is now only 50MB. I've checked the log and it says the backup went fine. And I've used the same settings (I back up everything).

Can you please go to (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db\ and check your day, minute and tick data? Do you have all of the data for the stocks as you expect?

Yes, everything is there (ca. 2GB of daily data).

If everything appears to be there, I do not believe you need to reinstall.

I cannot say how large you can expect the backup to be, but a 2GB backup file seems rather large. These archives should be compressed and would not equal to the amount of data you actually have stored on disk.

Ok, thank you for your help. It seems it was an old .sdf files that made the bulk of the archive and not my daily data which are relatively small as you surmised. A good WE to you.
