automated trading strategies do not work for sim101?

My setup is iqfeed data, I don't connect to broker.

I followed the tutorial here:

However, my sim101 account does not place any order. If I rerun the strategy with historical data, the same strategy actually triggered many orders.

Welcome here xyz123, unfortunately the link you pasted in was broken - would you see the same behavior for example with our demo SampleMACrossOver strategy we install with every NT?

What instrument / timeframe / chart type are you working on here?

instrument: 500 stocks.
timeframe: daily data
charttype: i don;t use chart.


I just enabled SampleMACrossOver by following "Running a NinjaScriptStrategy from the Strategies Tab". I will let you know if it works for SampleMACrossOver.

Thanks for the clarification - when working from the Strategies tab, please keep in mind the strategies would not be visualized on a chart. This would only happen if you started them from a chart to begin with.

I tried your suggestion: run the SampleMaCros all day today, but no execution is generated.
There is definitely something wrong.

Can you please contact us via Help > Mail to Support from within your NT so we could take a look at the platform's trace and log files? If you open a chart for those instruments >> the data would update / chart as expected in realtime, correct?

After I restarted ninjatrader, the problem seems to be gone. Now I see orders are placed by SampleMACrossOver.

However, my strategy "EOD_MACrossOver" is based on daily bar and end-of-date close price. When does the order be triggered by my strategy "EOD_MACrossOver"? Would the order be triggered at today's market close time or tomorrow's market open time?

Ok, thanks for letting me know, good to hear. It would trigger then as the bar updates and the current one closes (NinjaTrader is not time but event based as framework), this would happen as you receive the opening tick of the new bar.
