        OwnData Mapping

        Hello, after fighting for a long time with this issue myself i found the solution.

        OwnData Custom Symbol Mapping Method.

        Go to your default install folder of Owndata

        (in my case c:\Program Files\TSSupport\Owndata)

        Create a txt file called "owndata.txt" (ignore the "'s)

        Inside it use the following syntax to map your symbols.

        UserSymbol=OwndataSymbol; (dont forget the COMMA!!)

        Examples

        ES = ES:ES #F;
        ESIB = IB:ESZ9;
        DAXZ9=ES:AX Z9-DT;

        didnt test in the FX symbols but i believe it should work the same way.

        Hope this Helps!

        Best Regards
        SM

          Multicharts

          Why dont you use multicharts? It is quite easy, supports easylanguage and solves all your issues.

            Thats a great sugestion, but if i bought OwnData why would i now buy Multicharts if all i want to do is some symbol mapping?

            Sales pitch... not nice.

              owndata

              Thanks for nice reply. I do not sell multichart. If you once bought owndata you should stick to it forever.

                Symbol Mapping with TradeStation

                I'm trying to trade using the ATI in TradeStation to NinjaTrader in the ES market. My strategy needs to trade the @ES.D symbol (Day session only), but this is causing problems when I try to query my position. I tried to map the symbol this symbol in the Instrument editor by setting Symbol map|External = ES.D, but this still didn't work.

                When I wrote a work-around by calling NTMarketPosition with @ES instead of @ES.D, and that worked, but I'd like to be able to fix this from the Instrument Manager. How do I do this?

                Also when I place an order I want to specify a strategy in the order, but in NinjaTrader in the log complained the strategy I specified doesn't exist. Do I need to add a strategy in the Strategy window first?

                Thanks in advance.

                  tinfoilhat,

                  Mapping symbols is relevant for when you are using the email interface. You seem to be using the DLL interface and in that interface you need to call the actual instrument you want.
