Interactive Brokers Workstation update

Hello,

I've received a message from IB that Trader Workstation is updated and current version should be replaced. Is it fine to update now? Does it work with NT7?

Thanks for your post.

With the current release, we recommend the 917.8 build. This will be changing later in the week, but you will need to roll back in order to connect currently. TWS 917.8 is available here: http://www.ninjatrader.com/ConnectionGuides/Interactive-Brokers-Connection-Guide.php

"917.8 needs to be upgraded, as it will be desupported on 20120224. Minimum supported version at that time wil be 917.9"

Please look for a new release soon for NinjaTrader that will include an updated API for IB that allows connection to a more up to date release of IB's TWS.

Hello,

Unfortunately would not, the core API is unchanged we simply updated it to be compatible with current IB TWS connection protocol which changed in there release 920.

If it's easy enough, could Ninja connect to the IB Gateway (as well as, or instead of IB TWS)? Since I don't use IB TWS as anything but a gateway for Ninja, this would save a lot of memory & cpu usage on my trading machine. Thanks!

While that isn't currently possible, it is something which development is considering adding support for in future releases.

Where will you announce the update, please?

It would be helpful if it is available at least the day before the 24th deadline since from my experience last time, IB TWS shuts itself down after the deadline.

And there are also other possible complications like required java upgrades or other associated programs.
