    Hello,

i am trying to get a VIX chart and seems i forgot the symbol for ameritrade feed. I am getting no mapping error. I tried VIX, ^VIX, ^VIX.X, $VIX, $VIX.X but noe seems to work. Any idea what it might be?

    Hello bagzi,

    Thank you for your post.

Please try to use this symbol map for the VIX Index:
    • $VIXX

Please let me know if this symbol mapping will give you access to the VIX, or if I can provide any further assistance.

choose cboe in the definition, then in the TDA mapping $VIX.X

call it whatever you want as the master instrument. I just made it VIX there, and then since you labeled it as an INDEX, I think NT then calls it ^VIX

please enjoy the backfill errors that will destroy your chart!

You are using the SYMBOL MAP setup on the MISC table in instrument editor, correct? You NEED to map it. NT doesn't map it by default.

tick is $TICK in the symbol map.

This $TICK will not match ANYTHING else you see else where (it will match Strategy Desk I believe). I have NO clue what it is showing.

It does not match the website's $TICK, or ThinkorSwim's Tick.

                      See this post:

I have read on here that TDA's response is that 'different feeds show different things".. but it is constantly the wrong. it's displaying something else.

Search on index for TICK in instrument manager.

Edit TICK Index, map it to $TICK
(I think you've gotten this far?)

Now in the instrument manager, at the bottom, details, while having TICK index highlight, click the left arrow button to move it to the left.

Then you can use it in a chart.. (it should be called ^TICK)
