New user - Chart won't open with sim data

I am a newbie with NT. I followed the directions to open an new chart--
1) Connected to sim data source
2) Then File > New > Chart
3) Data series window came up
4) selected Forex > $EURUSD
5) Pressed 'OK'
6) No chart -- just a blank white page

What am I doing wrong?

You may not have historical data available for that chart. As such you would need to wait for the simulated feed to randomize the data. If you would like to test out some of the features of the platform, it comes with a free kinetick EOD connection accessible by File > Connect > Kinetick EOD.

How does the sim data populate? I trade thru MB Trading. Is there another source of data that would be more immediate?

The simulated data feed is local to your PC, it is random data and in no way reflects actual market data. It wouldn't pull historical data. You can connect to MB Trading for live market data through NinjaTrader.

See if I understand..
1) I select SIM Data
2) Then select a data series ($EURUSD)
3 Initially a blank screen appears

The sim data is now being prepared and I just wait until the chart appears?

Yes, it may take some time. I would suggest connecting to MBT (your broker/dataprovider) and pulling some historical data to save first.

If I use my account with MB Trading.. does it matter if it is live account or demo? I have not subscribed to the live trading option with NT so I assume it will not place any trades whether I use live or demo. Is that correct?

Hi Duke,

It would not matter which type of account is used. With the free version of NinjaTrader, any executions would take place in NinjaTrader's internal Sim101 account.
