How import own data without connect to a server

Hi to all i need to know if i can import my own symbols and minute data from a text file (with ninjatrader format) as historical data without the ninjatrader try to connect to a server.
I need to use my own data processed from real data, with the charting and scripting power of ninjatrader.
    Thanks
    Solare

    Hello Solare,

    Thank you for your post.

It is possible to import data from a text file. More information about the procedure and file formatting restrictions can be found at the following link to our Help Guide: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h.../importing.htm

hi Kyle thanks for your reply, but i've done it with 'ninjatrader import' tool
Before i've added a new symbol because it doesn't exist on my symbol list. It ask me to map the new symbol to a real data server list, but i haven't a data server, only a text file to import on ninjatrader. The data was imported, i've verified, but when i choose a new chart the error is 'Data server does not support this instruments'

So how import data and charting without data server ? I no need realtime data only use ninjatrader with my own historical data.

        Hello Solare,

Before it is possible to import data in to NinjaTrader an instrument must be defined within NinjaTrader's instrument manager - this does require that some server side settings like exchange and symbol mapping are set. That said, so long as you do not connect to any data provider, no server connection would take place.

The error you mentioned is likely correct depending on which instrument you load - our servers may not support an instrument you've added. This has no bearing on the data which you've imported however.

How i can tell to ninjatrader to don't connect to any data provider for this symbol ? Only read the historical data.

            Hello Solare,

This would require that you remain disconnected from your data provider. While connected data requests will be passed to the data provider - unfortunately, this cannot be disabled or overcome.

Ok Kyle it run when i'm disconnected.

              Another question.

Sometime when i export a data from a symbol the export doesn't do it until the current date/time but often until the previous day, seem that what is on cache data will not export, how i can force ninjatrader to save all cache data to his historical data ?

                Hello Solare,

Could you walk me through the steps you would be taking so that I can try to replicate this behavior here?

i'm connect to my data provider
                  i go to Historical data
                  export
i choose the instrument (ES june)
                  from date 24/04/2012
                  to date 01/05/2012
below is the last row of the export data on the txt file
                  20120501 141500;1402;1402;1401.75;1401.75;474

now on italy current time is 16.34 two hour after

seem that it don't have the data after 14.15 but i can see the chart updated until 16.34

i've tried also to disconnect to force the flush of the data but it doesn't change

Kyle is simple, you must be connect to your data provider to ensure that the data is updated to now.

Export any symbol you want to (minute data until today), and see if on the last row of txt file you have the last minute you see on the chart now or not.

Probably it's on some hour back.

                          Hello Solare,

Your prior instructions, as I understood them, did not include today's data. However if minute data up until today's date is exported, all available data at the time of the export should be included up to the minute you export.
