How to import entire indexes into ninjatrader?

I have been using ninjatrader and am very glad with the performance. I especially love to test my strategies over entire indexes like the s&p, dow and nasdaq.

However, I wish to add other indexes like Singapore's STI, Nikkei 225, FTSE MIB Index.

I would love to add all the listed stocks under these indexes into ninjatrader, but can't seem to fnd out how to do so.

Could someone please help me? Sorry I'm still very new to ninjatrader :/

    Hello comfysofa,

You can import a list of stock symbols into NinjaTrader. For more information on how to do this please see the link below.

NinjaTrader comes pre-loaded with the most commonly traded instruments however, you may find the need to add an additional instrument. Please follow the instructions below to add an instrument in the Instrument Manager.

From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
    Press the "New" button
*Enter in instrument specific information and select the appropriate exchange (add Default exchange for equities in addition to the actual exchange)
Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivity provider
    Press the "OK" button
    * If you wish to add an equity, this can be accomplished without following the steps above. Just open a chart (for example) and start typing in the symbol and a new instrument is automatically created.

The instrument is now added to the master instrument list. Please follow the instructions below if you want to add this instrument to an instrument list.

Select the instrument list you wish to add the instrument to via the "Instrument lists" drop down list in the upper left hand corner
Select the exchange (Default recommend for equities) as this will route orders to your broker smart routing system
Select the appropriate expiration date if this is a futures instrument
Press the "<" button to add the instrument to the list
You are now complete and can press the "OK" button.

      Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. However, I read those exact instructions and still couldn't import the stocks properly. I do have a question I hope you could help me with :

I wish to import the stock StarHub (CC3.SI) from http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=CC3.SI

      I do the following :

      1) Files > Utilities > Import Stock Symbol List

      2) Type in CC3.Si

      3) Traded on : SGX,
      Currency : UsDollar
      Instrument List : Default
      Session template : Default 24/7
      Separator chars : ,;

      4) After it says successfully imported, I go to File > New > Chart and try to open it, but it always tells me it cannot be opened.

      How do I solve this?

            Hello comfysofa,

It does not seem that this instrument is support by any of the data providers besides Yahoo and possibly MBT.

Please see the attached screenshots of the set up for this symbol.

The symbol for Kinetick will return differenct values as this is for: http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=SRHBF.PK

              Hello,

Thanks for all the help so far. However, it still mentions that it is an invalid symbol trading on sgx. How do i get past this?

You need to use the following feed:

                  Don't use sg.finance.yahoo.com.
