Where to find correct TWS

    Where to find correct TWS

    Hi, trying to connect to Ninja with IB, I saw the note about IB's change, but where do I find the link to download the correct TWS ? Seems all I can find is the current TWS which doesn't work with Ninja.

    Thank you for your note.


    What version of TWS are you using? You can check under TWS -> Help -> About -> Scroll to the Build #

    With the current version of NinjaTrader, 7.0.1000.10, it is critical that you use TWS version 921.5. Please uninstall your existing version via the Windows Control Panel, and then install 921.5 via the following link:

    Once TWS 921.5 has been installed, please ensure that the configuration in our Connection Guide for TWS has been completed.

    The following link will take you to a page that details the steps required for creating a connection to Interactive Brokers and specific connection configuration information.

      Hi Cameron,

      thank you for your help. Though I'm still having issues ;-(

      I do have the correct 921.5 downloaded now - thanks.

      I went through both configerations, TWS and Ninja. When I now log onto Ninja and connect to IB it starts off working ok. IB (TWS) comes up I enter the fancy code number and TWS pops up and data starts ticking up and down, Ninja shows bottom left "connecting to IB) but after 10-20 second TWS closes and no connection between the two happens ? I just keep getting a new login for TWS which if I fill out the same happens again.

      Any ideas ?

        Andy,

        Are the API settings setup correctly in TWS?

        Are there any other programs that are linked to TWS such as other trading platforms or eSignal?

          Hi,
          as far as I know TWS is set up correctly, just like the picture shows in the link you sent. No other programs being used.

            Andy,

            Close both NinjaTrader and TWS.

            Start TWS on it's own and verify that you can connect and receive data.

            Next, start NinjaTrader -> Connect to your IB connection

            Does this connect automatically or does it launch a new TWS login?

            Are there any error messages coming up when you try to connect?

              Hi Cameron,
              thank you for your patience.

              I did what you said, TWS works fine alone. When I open Ninja (leaving TWS working in the back ground) and then try to connect to TWS, a new launce - enter login and password pops up. IF I go through that, it won't let me because TWS is already running I need to close one.

                        Exactly the same problem

                        Hi, I have the same problem as is described on this thread.
                        Could you please tell me what to do to get it working? (I must confess that in the past I have tried to get Ninja to work about 8 different times but never got it going ;-( )

                          So I may assist you further please answer the following.

                          1) What version of NinjaTrader are you using? (Example: 7.0.1000.11)

                          * You can check under Help -> About

                          2) What version of Traders Workstation are you using?

                          * To verify what version of Traders Workstation you currently have log into Traders Workstation
                          * Under Help go to About Traders Workstation...
                          * Scroll down and look for Build

                          3) Does your Traders Workstation settings match the ones in the second screen shot of our Interactive Brokers connection guide?

                          4) Are you using Mosaic Mode and if so do you have the Advanced Order Management (TWS) window open?
                          5) Does the icon at the top left of your Traders Workstation match the one in our Connection Guide (blue box with IB inside)?

                            Hi,
                            The Ninja trader version I am using is: 7.0.1000.11
                            TW's build is 921.5
                            I have matched the settings from your website (and checked them extra).
                            TWS runs on it's own, but as soon as I open Ninja, it tells me that only one instance of Ninja is allowed to run, then I close TWS and Ninja tries to open and then connect. Ninja keeps trying or there is a timeout.
                            Not using the mosaic and I do not have the same logo (can't get that one for some reason it goes automatically to the logo of my IB broker)
                            It takes a very long time before the Ninja platform will open.
                            Also I have the connection for my life account, is that a problem maybe?

                              Please shut down NinjaTrader then upgrade to the 927.7 build of Trader Workstation via the following link: http://www.ninjatrader.com/ninjatrad...tall_927_7.exe

                              After upgrading, please try the connection again.
