Question on running a strategy

I followed the video to make a Moving Average Cross Over entry and exit and ran in strategy tester using the instruments that the video used and the strategy didn't make any trades?

Any ideas of what I did wrong?

Who were you connected to for data when you backtested?

Can you run a test on the SampleMACrossOvers on the same period and see if this takes any trades?

Are you connected to the connection called "Simulated Data Feed"?

Please note that the Simulated Data Feed does not provider historical data. If you do not have access to historical data, you will not be able to run the strategy in the Strategy Analyzer.

You can connect to Kinetick End of Day (free) and run a backtest on a Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly Interval.

OK. I see it now. I chose the free data and it worked.

So the next step is to see if I can get tick data from my broker.

Is there a free look period for NT that allows me to test from my brokers feed?

NinjaTrader is free for you to use as for simulation testing and backtesting as long as you wish. We only ask for you to purchase the software at the point you wish to place a live order to a live broker.

If you're unable to get tick data from your broker, please email sales[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and tell them what type of assets you are looking to trade (stocks, futures, forex) and we can see if we can get you setup with a demo to a broker.
