Can ninjatrader give alerts when a position is to be executed?

    Can ninjatrader give alerts when a position is to be executed?

    Hi,

    I am using the demo version of ninjatrader, and I would like to know if it can give alerts when a position is to be filled (meaning the strategy is fulfilled)

    I have a live and funded account with Interactive Brokers with market data from there. Is there a way I can demo the alerts on that account before purchasing?

    Yes you can set an alert. Please refer to our help guide to know more


    If you want the alert to trigger when the trade executes you can place it in the OnExecution event.

      Thanks, although it wasn't quite what I was thinking.

      Is there a way to send an email to my email address when an alert is triggered?

      And can this be activated even in demo version to have a trial run?

              Yes, the free version includes NinjaScript, so you can use SendMail() as well.

                Thanks for the help! Can I clarify 2 things?

                1. The "From" section can be from any email at all?

                2. I am testing out this strategy in ninjatrader demo. I have a live account with live market data from Interactive Brokers. Am I able to get the demo version of Ninjatrader to send me the email alerts in real time?

                  1. Yes you can use any email address. You have however need to configure your email settings in the Misc tab in the Options menu

                  In Control Center menu bar goto Tools>Options>Misc tab.

                  Below is a list of known e-mail settings and information demonstrating configuring e-mail alerts within NinjaTrader. Included are settings which have been tested with basic accounts. Please ensure that your settings are configured identically to those included, as some only use the beginning of the e-mail address and do not


                  2. Yes, you will be able to send emails in the demo version using live data. Infact the SendMail function is a realtime function only
                  * Calls to this method are ignored on historical data, it will only work in real-time.

                    May I confirm if I'm doing it right?

                    I go to strategies :

                    New Strategy > Select my strategy, Account Sim101 > Enable

                    Then I just wait for alerts to be sent to the specified email?

                          Hi,

                          I have encountered a problem, could you assist me in this?

                          For NinjaTrader, I head to Strategies > Right Click > New Strategy > Fill up the necessary details > Enable it with a proper working "connection" to Interactive Brokers.

                          I have configured my account to send all emails to a specific email account, and even sent a test email and it worked. My settings for a buy position is :

                          SendMail("[email protected]"."trades@evere stfortune.com"."Buy Position Has Been Spotted"."Look into buying this position")

                          After running this strategy for some time, I noticed that I have trades executed in historical results, but no email has been sent to my "[email protected]", could you help me in this?

                            Hi comfysofa,

                            SendMail() will only trigger in real time. It's intentionally disabled historically to prevent potential flood of inadvertent emails.

                            To test that mail is working in general, you can click Tools > Options > Misc tab, and click the Test button.
