    Strategy Not Getting Tick Data

    Hello,

    I have just bought the licensed version of Ninjatrader.

    I am now running a strategy that I have backtested on the Sim account before running it live.

    But it doesnt seem to be getting any tick data. The strategy is green in the strategies tab, but when I look at the chart in real time performance, it does not follow the tick data as it comes in.

    Other charts and the Order tab are updating for the same instrument without a problem.

    Any ideas what is happening here?

    • To assist you further may I know is CalculateOnBarClose is set to true or false?
    • If you are in a position then is the Unrealized profit changing in the Strategies tab in Control Center?

      Thanks for the quick response.
      CalculateOnBarClose is set to true.
      It doesnt get as far as getting into a position.
      I notice in the log it says Automated Trading is disabled.
      I think the problem only started once I had upgraded to the live version and added IB as a connection, though this may not be the cause.

        Hello pmcgoohan,
        Can you tell me what version of TWS you are using?

        You can get the information from:
        In TWS menu bar goto Help>About Traders workstation

        Also please send me your log and trace files for today so that I may look into what occurred.

        You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Mail to Support.

          TWS Version below- but bear in mind that I am not using IB at the moment, just Kinetic for data and Sim101 for trading, in fact I am not even connected to IB at the moment.

              Many thanks for sorting this out over email/skype. I hadn't realized that for realtime updates of charts you need to open the strategy from a live chart. The chart in the performance form does not update in realtime.

                  I do have one more question. I hope to I won't need to bother you so much when I am up and running.

                  I now have the strategy running off a live chart, and appearing in the strategy tab.

                  But the Connection in the Strategy tab is 'Interactive Brokers'. However, my Interactive Brokers account is setup for trading only, not market data. My market data should come from Kinetic which is far more reliable.

                  Please can you tell me whether this is just a mistake and the data is really coming from Kinetic, or if not, how to ensure that only Kinetic not IB data is being used.

                    Hello pmcgoohan,
                    Please connect to Kinetick first and then to IB. This will make sure the data is coming from Kientick.

                    Please refer to our help guide to know more about multiple connections.

                      Hello,
                      And to add, the connection name will be shown as Interactive Brokers. But the data will be from Kinetick as long as it is the primary connection.
