Default Trading Account

I have seen some old post on this but has anything changed? Is it now possible to change the default trading account to your live account so you dont have to manually switch it each time?

Hello irmrmisa,
You can have your live account be the default account.

To have NinjaTrader start with your live account selected please go to Tools > Options > Simulator tab, uncheck the box for 'Always start in simulation' and press OK.

If you have your connection set to connect on start up you will need to disable this feature.

I was having the same issue and I am finding that NT is still coming up and selecting the Sim101 account by default in my workspace. I've disabled always start in sim mode, changed to the live account in all windows (chart & dynamic DOM), saved the workspace, etc.

It still comes up selecting Sim101 as the account when I launch NT.

Suggestions?

Hello JulieD,

Do you have the connect on start up feature enabled on your connection?
If so, please disable this feature. You can do this by going to Tools > Account Connections, selecting your connection and clicking Change. Then unchecking the box for Connect on start up and finishing the connection wizard.

This issue remains - I have the same beef, and the last response does NOT fix the problem. I have turned off every reference to Sim trading. Unchecked all the boxes. I've saved chart templates, made them default... NOTHING stops all my chart trader windows initializing to Sim101 account, rather than my live account. Please - either post a solution that works, or acknowledge the problem...

The Account dropdown does load the accounts by alphabetical order.

Does the name of your account come after the Sim101?

My account starts with a number - it is listed first in the dropdown, above Sim101.

I notice when NT first starts up, in the Control Center window, it initially shows my live account... for a couple seconds... then, when all my charts have loaded, it changes it to Sim101. So somewhere it messes with this. Surely, since I have set the configuration to NOT use Sim Trading - it should NOT default to that account!

Yes I do. But, as per the previous post, I disabled this. So when NT starts, I have no account. When I then manually connect to my broker, it still goes to Sim101. So what did I gain? Nothing - just made things slower by having to manually connect. Like I said - this is NOT a solution!
