    Kinetick symbols for Ninja

can someone direct me on what symbols are used for VIX and VIX futures and the parameters that work with Kinetick?

Also the same for Interactive Borkers?

    35trader,

You can look up symbols for Kinetick here : https://www.kinetick.com/support#Symbol-Search

The VIX index should be configured by default for IB. It looks like it defaults to "VIX" for this provider.

The symbol for Kinetick is @VX, the symbol for Interactive Brokers is VIX. You need to select CFE as the exchange. Make sure that you use a session template from 7:00 AM Central Time to 3:15 Central Time. I think that I had created that template myself, as it was not available per NT7 default settings.

        Adam and Harry,

Its more the futures that are an issue and for mapping I use @VX for Kinetick, but when you use the Instrument Manager you end up required to use a contract exchange Cfe and 09-12 expiry for example, but when you go and chart this contract it has a error and can't find the contract.

Can you provide full screen shots for the steps in getting a 09-12 VIX futures for Kineticks?

        thanks

Have you tried setting the exchange as CBOE instead of CFE?

            Yes I have.

I hope Adam or Harry show screen shots to all the setup parameters, idiot proof it for me.

That's weird, a symbol map of @VX and the exchange set to CBOE works for me to view the VX 09-12 contract on Kinetick. Are you sure you're looking at VIX futures and not the VIX index?

Yes I go into Instrument Manager, select Future, Name: VX, Exchange: have tried both Cboe and Cfe, Expiry: 09-12

I get a Error loading chart data for VX 05-12 Cfe, unable to load historic data, unknown instrument.

Now I use a 09-12 contract and it tries to plot a 05-12?

I think depending on how many days you're loading, it will get data for each individual contract, thus the May contract being loaded. Have you tried ONLY CBOE, with CFE not selected at all? If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what the problem might be.

Just tried Cboe and tried plotting 30 days historic, results were:

Error on loading chart for VX 08-12 Cboe: Unable to load historical data, unknown instrument,

Now I used a 09-12 contract and the error comes back on a 08-12 contract

                      Note:
For the Index I use a VIX.XO for Kineticks and this works, or looks to be working.

I'm out of ideas, but I'm sure someone from NT will be able to figure it out.
