linking dom and chart window

can a dom and chart window be linked so that other windows with same
instrument do not inter-relate? IE: trading nq with a system in one window
and nq with charttrader in another

Thank you for your forum post.


You will be able to link two windows together with the window linking feature.

Charts, Order entry windows, Alerts, Time and Sales, News and Market Analyzer windows within NinjaTrader all have link buttons in the top right hand corner (L).

Any window that is linked by color (each link button is set to the same color) will receive the same change of instrument request. That means that if you change, or select, an instrument in one window, all other linked windows will also change to that instrument.

Linking of windows

Thanks for the prompt response,

The linking of a chart window with a dom window
does not seem to alter the placing of other actions
in the same commodity from other windows in the
same dom, Am I missing something here?

Hello latkinso,


As long as these windows are all linked to the same color then each window will change the instrument that is selected once you change the instrument in any window of the same link color.

If you change an instrument on a window that is not set to the same link color then it will not effect the linked windows.

Linking chart window with dom

I dont think linking the dom and chart window with the same color bar in the link

changes the situation.

I do not understand your inquiry.


If you link a SuperDOM and a Chart to the same color and the switch an instrument on one of these windows, it will switch the instrument on the other window as well because they are linked.

If you have a SuperDOM open and a Chart to the same instrument and they are both unlinked or linked, if you place a trade on one window, you will see this trade reflected in the other window.

Example: Place trade on Chart Trader, you will see this order on the SuperDOM.

I entered the order with the yellow box nq charttrader,
It show up on both the red box nq chart and the red box nq dom.

If you have a SuperDOM open and a Chart to the same instrument and are both linked or unlinked, if you place a trade on one window, you will see this trade reflected in the other window.


Here are some instructions that will allow you to go both long and short on the same market at the same time:

Here is how this is accomplished:

• Open 2 order entry windows and set them both to the same market
• Right click in one of the windows and select the menu "Properties"
• Set the 'ATM Strategy selection mode' parameter to "DisplaySelectedAtmStrategyOnly"
• Repeat the last two instructions on the second Order entry window
• Submit a buy order to open a long position in the first order entry window.
• Submit a sell order to open a short position in the second order entry window.
