    Firewall settings for NinjaTrader

    Hello,

I have to adjust the settings for my "content filter" service on my firewall. I have allowed access to the following 2 URL's: host.ninjatrader.com and ninjatrader-support2.com

host.ninjtrader.com appears to be the primary license Ninja server, so that NT can verify license upon startup.

ninjatrader-support2.com appears to actually be a "mail server" and also a "backup" server for NT license verification.

however, on another thread, someone from NT support told me that I also have to allow connection to ninjtrader-support.com -------> what is this third server for? I would doubt that it would be a "third" backup server for license verification as this would be overkill. When I visted this URL i got a website that appears to be an "advertising website" per se, so why would I need to be allow to connection to this website/URL within my firewall?

I would have thought that to allow connection to the first 2 URL's are enough, without any need to connect to the third URL called ninjatrader-support.com? Is this correct?

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards,

    Rod

    Hello Rocket130713,

Yes, this is outdated information. NinjaTrader only uses the two addresses below for license verification.

    * www.ninjatrader.com
    •IP - 74.200.197.238
    •Ports - 80 & 443

    * www.ninjatrader-support2.com
    •IP - 64.38.21.160
    •Ports - 80 & 443

Will these two IP address stay the same for many years? or will they change?

I am not aware of any plans to change these addresses.

          Hi Guys,
I haven't logged in for a long time now (6 months at least) and now I'm seeing the "unable to connect to license servers" dialog when opening NT7.

I notice that these IP addresses have actually changed

          Code:
          Adam@fangorn /usr/bin$ ping 74.200.197.238
Pinging 74.200.197.238 with 32 bytes of data:
          Request timed out.

          Adam@fangorn /usr/bin$ ping 64.38.21.160
Pinging 64.38.21.160 with 32 bytes of data:
          Request timed out.
          Request timed out.
.... although the DNS names remain the same:

          Code:
          Adam@fangorn /usr/bin$ ping host.ninjatrader.com
Pinging host.ninjatrader.com [72.233.92.253] with 32 bytes of data:

          Adam@fangorn /usr/bin$ ping ninjatrader-support2.com
Pinging ninjatrader-support2.com [64.57.210.216] with 32 bytes of data:

          Reply from 64.57.210.216: bytes=32 time=132ms TTL=52
Does this mean I have to change something? If not, what could be stopping NT7 connecting to the servers?

My firewall doesn't block ports 80 or 443

          Thanks
