Error message on start-up - Not even able to start NT?

    Hello guys,

I just paid for a lease for NT7 with ZenFire and downloaded the newest version (not upgrading, new computer). I entered my license key, but got two error messages on start-up. I attached them as pictures.

I do not yet have an account with a Zen-Fire broker, but that should not be a problem at this point.

    Thanks in advance,

    Johnny

    Hello Johnny,
    Thanks for your post.

NinjaTrader requires various Microsoft components to run, one of which is SQL compact Edition. Currently you may not have SQL Compact Edition or possibly have the incorrect version of SQL Compact Edition installed.

Please follow the below steps to ensure the correct version of SQL Compact Edition is installed on your PC. If you are not entirely comfortable performing the steps below, please let me know and we can setup a time for a remote support session.
    • Navigate to the Windows Control Panel
    • Add and remove software/programs
    • Uninstall any SQL Compact Editions you see, if none are present you may ignore this step and continue onto the next step
    • Install latest SQL Compact Edition 3.5. SP2 which is available here: Download Here
    • Once you run the downloaded file it will ask you for a directory to extract the installer to. Point this to a temporary directory that you will be able to quickly locate later, such as the desktop
    • Navigate to the aforementioned directory in which the files have been extracted to (there will be two files)
    • SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi - Run this one first
    • SSCERuntime_x64-ENU.msi - No need to run this if you are on a 32 bit system, if you are on a 64 bit system you will also need to run this file, if you are not sure if you have a 64 bit system go ahead and run this file. If you are not using a 64 Bit operating system, the installer will cancel itself automatically
    • Follow the installation steps outlined in the installation wizard
    • Once installed you will need to restart your PC
    • You will now be able to launch NinjaTrader 7

If you are unable to launch NinjaTrader 7, then please let me know.

      Hello JoyDeep,

Thank you for your fast reply.

I have had NT installed on this computer before without any problems. After formatting my computer, I have now installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 that I use with Excel. That`s the only difference from earlier.

Will going through the steps you outlined in any way interfer with my database application?

In addition to several SQL components, I had "SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP" ENU" and "SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 Query Tools ENU". I suppose those are the ones you want me to uninstall.

      I have a 64-bit system.

      Thanks,

      Johnny

I will do, but do you first want me to uninstall BOTH the components I mentioned in my previous post?

I fear that I may interrupt my SQL server that I had help installing.

Just need to confirm to be sure.

            Hello Johnny,
You have installed the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and not the SQL compact edition. So it wont conflict with each other.

Okay, but should I uninstall the two components I mentioned?

I try running the two files without uninstalling, but got an error message half way through installation.

                Hello Johnny,
No need to uninstall the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.

In a 64 bit OS please make sure to install the 32 bit version first and then the 64 bit version. Please read the text file that comes with the download which gives detailed instructions on how to install the SQL compact edition.

To assist you further can you post a screenshot of the error you are getting.

I look forward to assisting you further.

                  Hello Joy,

                  That`s exactly what I did.

I first start SSCERuntime_x86-ENU. Options are 1) repair or 2) remove.

                  Probably since it`s already installed.

I enter repair, installation starts and I get the following error message attached on picture.

                      Thanks, Joy.

I uninstalled the two components I first mentioned and then re-installed it. This time it booted. Hopefully, it did not affect my SQL solution.

                      Regards,

                      Johnny
