    backtesting a strategy does nothing

    Hello,

I am new to NinjaTrader. I connected to Kinetic (I also tried simulated data feed). I created a basic strategy following instruction in Youtube. The strategy code is attached. When I try to backtest it, the backtesting finishes immediately and returns a summary with zeros everywhere. No error message is issued. The NinjaTrader log is also attached.
What can be the reason for this? Please help.

    Thanks,
    Shaul

Welcome to our forums, have replied this morning to your support inquiry as well.

Which chart and instrument are you testing on here please?

From your question I understand my problem. The Type parameter of the backtest pane has a default of Minute, and I must use Day because of Kinetic.
So I used the sample MA crossover with a Type of Day, and it worked. Thanks!

One other question: the summary gave a gross profit of $20000 for only 5 trades during the year. Does this make sense ?

If you're using the free Kinetick End of Day connection, you will need to run the test on a Daily interval.

If you cannot get any results with your strategy using AAPL on a Daily interval, can you please run a test on the SampleMACrossOver strategy using a Daily interval while connected to Kinetick.

Glad to hear you were able to get it to work.

Yes, it would be possible to get a PnL of that size depending on how many points were obtained in the position.
