    All charts corrupted after trying to load a single volume chart

    All of the charts in all of my workspaces have been corrupted. No data, no symbol, just dozens of empty charts. The charts were all time based charts.

    Here's where the problems started:
    1) I tried to open a ES 12-12 chart w/volume bars using IQFeed delayed data.
    2) Subsequently, the volume chart and all other charts would only render if I closed NT and did not reconnect any data feeds.
    3) Upon reconnecting to a live feed all of my charts went blank and I have been able to figure out how to get them back.
    4) I can only populate a new chart in a new workspace w/2 different data providers (IQFeed and Gain) if I don't open any of the old workspaces.

    Question:
    How do I get my old workspaces and charts back? Is my only choice to copy all of the tickers from the XML files and start recreating everything manually?

    Thank you for your post.

    Have you tried clearing your cache data to see if that helps with your workspace?

    Please use the steps I have provided below to delete your cache data:

    * Close NinjaTrader
    * Documents -> NinjaTrader 7 -> db folder -> cache folder
    * Select all files-->Right mouse click-->Delete
    * Open NinjaTrader
    * Connect

    Open a new chart without any indicators or templates applied to see if you are able to load a chart.

          Actually, I spoke too soon. Some of my charts in some of my workspaces have been restored. Others are still corrupted and I can't open new charts in these workspaces. Any ideas?

            Lou,

            Are you trying to open new charts that have Templates or Indicators? Or are these fresh charts?

            Is it only on a certain instrument?

              I have 3 basic workspaces:

              #1) 100% templated, and most w/indicators. This workspace is working properly and I'm able to open new charts in it.

              #2) 100% templated and a few w/indicators. Only 4 chart of about 15 working. Can't open new charts.
              #3) 100% templated and most w/indicators. Only 1 chart of about 15 working. Can't open new charts.

              When I say "can't open new charts" I mean untemplated and w/o indicators. I can't get anything w/them.

                I just learned sthg new. I can only open certain instruments in the one workspace that's closest to working properly.

                  Lou,

                  Please close all workspaces but one that is having this issue.

                  Once you are down to one workspace, restart NinjaTrader.

                  Does this one workspace open correctly or does it still have an issue?

                  Worst case scenario, you would need to recreate the workspace.

                    Even the one that opens correctly can only render charts from certain symbols. So many charts aren't working that I think I have to start from scratch.

                        Everything that is not on the one functioning workspace won't open. Various FX crosses, futures, etc. If I start from scratch, no pre-existing workspaces, then I can create charts normally w/a wide range of instruments.

                        Do you see a way out of this or should I recreate all 3 workspaces and ~45 charts?

                            I haven't done a backup for a long time b/c it never seems to finish these days - even after a weekend of running. If I restore a backup from a year ago won't I get the workspaces back but lose the past year's data?

                              That is correct, the backup data will overwrite what you have now.

                              Depending on who you connect to, it is possible that they support the data you would overwrite and it would redownload.

                              Note that when you perform a backup you can select what you would like to include.

                              Once you get your workspace rebuilt, perform a backup with just Workspaces selected, this should complete almost immediately. Backing up Historical Chart Data and Market Replay are the items that can make the backup take a long time.
