    Ruler Question...

On the attached chart have shown 2 data series and 1 indicator...in order to apply the ruler I can highlight any of these 3 items and then am able to apply the ruler to any of the 3....why not just be able to apply the ruler without highlighting any item first...similar to all other draw tools...??

    Thanks...

    Hello Alfred,
Unlike the other draw object, the Ruler calculates the values based on what data series you choose. For example if you choose to apply the Ruler on the Bollinger then it will print out values for the Bollinger. This is not the case with other draw objects which plot themselves for the primary bar only.

      Suggestion...

For all 3 items in the example below, no matter which item is selected to activate the ruler....the Time and Y value will be calculated the same way...what you could do when there is more than 1 data series per chart is show the number of bars of each each data series in the ruler info box...as in the case shown a 5 tick and a 225 second chart....that way you would not have to highlight anything to make the ruler active on multi series charts....

        Hello Alfred,
If I get you correctly the number of bars are displayed in the Ruler.

In a chart the Bar series shares the same X Axis and that is the default behavior.

My suggestion is a great solutiom....

The solution I suggested below would enable one to use the Ruler like any other Draw tool without having to highlight anything on a multi series chart beforehand in order to apply the ruler... however one may wish... to anything on a multi series chart...this seems like a pretty good solution to me...

In this solution the number of bars in each data series would be displayed in the ruler info box.

          Thanks....

                One more suggestion this area...

One more thing in this area (on Equidistant false charts)....when you may possibly in the future be able to measure the length of graphic objects as they are drawn...(or after placed on a chart)...
one would want that horizontal measurement in both bars and time. Currently the Bars measurement in the ruler is not measuring the empty bar spaces in thinly traded areas or on charts such as a 1 second chart, so you are not necessarily getting a bar measurement that corresponds to time accurately in all cases. Perhaps take a look at this area in future versions of NT to see what could be done on this.

                Thanks...

Just one more Ruler idea consideration...

What about making the Ruler set up line a different color (& weight etc)...
often this line is cutting through a chart and you may want it to stand out...

                    Screen shot example below...

                    Thanks once again...

                      Hello Alfred,
Currently you can change the color width etc from the draw object properties.

To clarify further are you trying to suggest to change the color etc for each line (there are 2 lines). If so then I will forward your suggestion to development for future consideration.

                        ...

Hi again...per screen shot have the possibility for the AB portion of the Ruler line be a different color, weight & style...

                        Thanks...
