    Help With Tick Chart

    Hello,
I need some help figuring out these tick charts. The image labeled tick chart 1 is the type of tick chart I am trying to duplicate. The image labeled tick chart 2 is what I am currently getting. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong setting up the chart or maybe the charts look different because of the data feed? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Do you have access to chart on the left?

    This might work;

Can you right click, goto templates, "Save As" , enter a name.
Goto chart #2, right click, goto templates, "Load", enter the saved name.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this but it did not work.

While doing some research on this problem I found this thread (link below) started by Ac1d27 that discusses the same problem I'm having. It appears to be some kind of issue with historical bid/ask data that is not present in real time as the chart loads. The market is closed now so I'll have to wait until Sunday evening to see if the charts load properly in real time.

In the attached pic you can see a 1 tick chart from a new data feed and switching the data to 1 pip instead of a tenth of a pip that almost plots the way I would like it to. If I could get rid of those sideways ticks the chart should be right on.

Is there a way to get historical bid data to test over the weekend?

      Thanks again, much appreciated

        Hello hillside77,

You may use the Market Replay to download L2 data to Play back to test out the tick charts.

Note that Tick charts are time independent charts.

It is important to note the differences between time dependent and time independent bar styles in understanding your issue. There are a variable number of ticks per minute within each instrument, and this affects how bars are built.

If you are noticing that your "time-independent" bar charts are changing when you reload historical data, this can be because of a variety of reasons.

        1. Differences between historical and real-time data related to your data provider.
        2. Differences between the starting time of your previously loaded chart, and the newly created chart.

You can remedy most of this through the following method.

        1. On your chart, right click and go to "Data Series"
        2. Set the "Load data based on" field to "CustomRange".
        3. Ensure that your "Start Date" is always set to the same date.
        4. Next, go to your Control Center.
        5. Go to Tools > Options > Data.
        6. Ensure that "Save chart data as historical" is checked.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

          Hello,
Thanks for the suggestions. Apparently the trouble comes from the data being displayed as last price. When I download L2 data and use market replay setting price on bid the charts display correctly (see attached image). When the charts are refreshed they revert to last price and plot the sideways ticks that are messing up my charts. I don't know if different data feeds will solve this problem, will do some more research next week to find out.
Thanks again, you guys have great customer service!
