Saving Charts with Drawings

Hi,
I have a usage question with saving charts.
Let's say I want to make notes/drawing on "ES ##-##" with 5-min Period.
I want to be able to save this chart so I can go back to it in the future.
I also want to make other sets of notes/drawing on the same instrument, same period, then
save it too for future reference.

How can I look at the notes on the first chart without seeing the notes made on the second
chart, and vice versa?
Can I save the charts with different names so I can better identify them?

Here is what I see:
I can create the 2 charts as above, and then save the workspace.
When I exit NT and reenter NT, I can reload the workspace and I see the 2 charts.
But when I accidentally close one of the charts, I cannot get it back even when
I open the workspace again.

Thank you for your post.

Chart drawing objects are saved as part of the workspace. If, for example, you added a line to a chart then saved the workspace (File > Workspaces > Save Workspace) and restarted NinjaTrader you would see the line within the chart.

The drawing object itself can be applied to a single chart or all charts showing the same instrument. To toggle this:

• Double-click on the drawing object to open it's Properties menu.
• Within that menu, use the 'Attach to' drop down menu to toggle how the drawing object is applied.

It is not possible to name charts within a workspace.


In your example, it would appear that you saved the change to the workspace when closing NinjaTrader down thereby overwriting the original workspace layout. When you wish to restore a workspace, restart but be sure to select the 'No to All' option when asked whether or not to save changes to workspaces when closing NinjaTrader.
