    Using a different data provider while trading with IB

    HI,
    I remember reading from somewhere I can use a different data provider (e.g. esignal) but trade through IB.
    What I did was first connect to esignal, then connect to IB.
    However, from my strategy tab, I can Account as IB account number, but "connection" as "IB" as well. That's not what I want as IB has very filtered Data.

    I was running same strategy on a different PC, using purely esignal. The charts look different from the IB connected ones. This proves my first PC isn't really using esignal data.

    In the account connection settings for IB, is there anything specific I should set for my IB account?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your note.


    NinjaTrader will pull data from the first connection established in this scenario eSignal. If data does not match please right mouse click within your chart and select "Reload all historical data".

    If data still does not match please use the steps I have provided below to delete your historical data:
    • Close NinjaTrader
    • Documents
    • NinjaTrader 7
    • Open the db folder
    • Open the Cache folder and delete all files within this folder
    • Go back to the db folder
    • Open the Tick folder and delete all files within this folder
    • Repeat this procedure for the Day as well as Minute folders
    • Restart NinjaTrader
    • Connect to eSignal
    • After data loads then connect to IB

      thanks but I think we are confused

      Thank you Chris.
      However, what I meant is realtime data.
      When I put the strategy to work in real time today, it's pulling realtime data from IB. I don't want that as I prefer esignal data better.

      The strategy tab tells the story, but i can't post the screenshot here as it has my account info. Perhaps I should send you an email or skype?
