crosshair causing other programs to "blink"

Hi, Every time I use the crosshair on a Ninja chart it causes my other open applications (that are non-Ninja) to blink repeatedly. When I take the crosshair off the chart by sliding my mouse away from the chart, the blinking stops.

I'm told this may have to do with a global variable being used in NT. Can this be corrected?

    Thanks for your help!

Which other apps flicker for you?

This has nothing to do with a "global variable" whatsoever. People probably referred you to the global crosshair cursor feature.

Anyway, we experienced that some video cards like nVidia (spelt correctly?!?) exhibit problems with .NET. This usually can be correctly by turning off the hardware accelerator for this video card.

        crosshair issue

thanks! Other programs blinking are Tradestation, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer. I do have an Nvidia card from Tradingcomputers.com, I would have thought they would have known about a conflict. Any other thing to try?

        Thanks for your help!

Apart from turning off the hardware accelerator on NVidia card? Sorry, no other option comes to my mind.

I have a nVidia card on Win XP and no flickering problems.

Try using latest drivers from them, especially if you have default drivers Windows installed. www.nvidia.com.

I encountered the same problem. In my case, I use dual NVIDIA cards in an SLI configuration. As soon as I turned off the SLI, the flickering went away.
              Hope this helps someone.

                  Curious: what is SLI? Thanks

SLI - Scalable Link Interface - a hardware technology that NVIDIA created in order to use dual-graphics cards linked together as one.

Update: after more testing(no SLI), the only windows that now flicker are ones that are written in Java.

                        Hello:

Another tip for resolving the nVida crosshair would be to try the following...This was sent from a NinjaTrader user.

Change all Monitor's Color Quality from Medium (16 bit) to Highest Quality (32 Bit)

Enjoy your day and happy trading everyone!

                          The Entire Computers Flickers!

Whenever I choose the Crosshair or Global crosshair cursor, the entire computer and all the application flickers repeatedly. Where will find out what video card I am using? How do I turn it off? Thanks.

                            Hello sonnykhalil,

                            Thank you for your post.

You can find out what video card you are using by right clicking Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Managment > Device Manager. In the device manager, select Display Adapters. Your video card will be listed there.

I recommend not disabling your video card as this will create issues that we are not able to support.

I found my video card it is a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. What do I do with it and how? Thanks for your patience, I am naive when it coomes to a computer. Thanks for your patience.
