Saving custom parameters added to chart

I have added some custom parameters which are displayed under my own defined "Category" in New-->Chart.

Problem occurs when I Save WorkSpace or Chart Template. I am not able to save these parameters. ChartStyle class has one ToXml() method but it cannot be overriden as it is static.

Is there a way to serialize and then Load custom parameters of chart?

    Hello nitinzain,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader Support Forum!

When loading the custom ChartStyle in the Data Series menu of your chart you can save the settings by right clicking on the settings in the Data Series menu and selecting 'Set Default for 'yourCustomPeriod' Period Type'.

The instructions above will save the settings as the default settings for your custom ChartStyle.

Please let me know if you are still running into any further items.

      Thanks Patrick for the update.

Right click and save will only save the Period parameters.

I have a separate category of my own parameters "XYZ Parameters". Under this category we have some 10 parameters. These parameters are part of class derived from ChartStyle.

Is it possible to save these parameters?

        Hello nitinzain,

        Thank you for your response.

Correct, the Chart Style setting can only be saved with the Period Type. Unfortunately, there is no method to set the Chart Style settings as the defaults alone without editing your code.

So in this case you will need to edit the settings in your code to the desired settings.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

I do not want to save the Chart Style properties as default for the new charts, that I have taken care, as you have mentioned, through code.

I want to save the Chart Style properties while saving workspace, so that when next time I restart the NinjaTrader, I should not have the reset the properties for the specific chart.

e.g. I have created a chart for ES 03-13. Now I have set some parameters, which are defined by me in ChartStyle, and save the workspace. On workspace Reload these parameters does not persist.

I would appreciate any help in saving these parameters.

            Hello nitinzain,

            Thank you for that information.

This is not expected behavior as the settings of your charts should be saved when saving your Workspace.

Please send me your log and trace files for today so that I may look into what occurred.

You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Mail to Support.

Please place 'ATTN: Patrick' in the subject line of the e-mail and reference this thread in the body of the e-mail: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ad.php?t=55891

I look forward to assisting you further.
