IB Connection lost during a trade

    IB Connection lost during a trade

    Normally I can connect to my IB paper trading account without any problem. For the first time I put on a position last night with the intent of exiting sometime this morning. The computer was left on. When I got up this morning the connection to IB had been broken and I cannot reconnect. I have two questions:

    1. Why was I disconnected from IB?

    2. What do I have to do to re-connect?

    Hello TrendTracker,

    IB causes a daily disconnect due to resetting their servers. You will need to manually reconnect after the daily maintenance.

    Please upgrade to NinjaTrader 7.0.1000.11. You can upgrade NinjaTrader by following the link below. You will need to enter in your license key to get to the downloads page.

      I've tried several times to re-connect and could not. All I can get is a white "Connecting - Interactive Brokers" message in the lower left. Will the version upgrade fix this, or is there something else going on?

        You should be able to connect after upgrading to NinjaTrader 7.0.1000.11.

          I closed the position and then re-started Ninja. It connected just fine. Do you think having the position open with IB caused the inability to re-connect? Is there any way around this?

            Hello TrendTracker,

            Yes, the open position is why the connection could not be established.

            Upgrading to NinjaTrader 7 release 11 would allow you to connect with an open position in TWS.
