Changing gthe primary series on a chart

I want to change the primary series on a chart but when i click "Remove" I get the error "The primary series on a chart cannot be removed".

Short of recreating the chart, is there any way to change the primary series?

Hi,

Thank you for your Post.

The instrument you'd like to switch to could be selected from the chart toolbar if it has been added to the Default instrument list.

I know its about six years later however I have the same problem. The contract changed from YM0914 to YM1214.
I want to change the chart to reflect this change. The correct price is displayed in the DOM but the old price is on the chart!
On my other charts (pro real time) All I do is click change security. Surely they are not easier than ninja?
Please advise. Many thanks.

Thank you for your post.

Are you trying to view the 12-14 contract without the merging of the previous contract? If so, please go to Tools > Options > Data > set the Merge Policy to DoNotMerge > OK. Then right click in your chart and select 'Reload All Historical Data'.

Thank you for the quick response. I have made the changes you suggested however the two prices are still different if you follow. I have my live pro real time charts open on two screens with the DOM of ninjatrader. They are both displaying the correct price - that is for the December contract YM 1214
The ninja chart is stuck with the sep YM0914 contract price. As per the other post below when I try to change this contract it says it cant be done! I hope I am not supposed to set up a new chart every time the rollover takes place.

Can you provide a screenshot of the message you are getting?

You should be able to change to the contract month without error.

I finally figured it out by going instruments then clicking on the 1214 .
Simple when you know how. Problem solved.
