    Brokers for BC Canada?

Hope this was the right section to post this in.

I am looking for a broker who will serve BC, Canada. I was going to use AMP, but upon applying, I found out they don't serve BC. Not sure why, maybe some tax issues?

Anyways, their minimum deposit was 500, which was awesome for my situation. However, I've found other brokers, but their deposits required are like 2500.

Can anyone recommend a good broker for BC residents? Also, if you know of any with a cheap minimum deposit like AMP, that would be awesome, thanks!

    Hello Julesocean,

Thank you for writing in today. I am glad to hear about your interest in NinjaTrader! Yes, you can write to us via our Support Forum or you can send us an email to sales[at]ninjatrader{dot}com

Based off of your post, I have included the brokers who will support Canadian customers:

    • Interactive Brokers (Futures, Forex & Equities) - http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/main.php
    • Zaner (Futures trading) - http://www.zaner.com/

You will want to contact these partners correctly to find out the costs for opening an account. NinjaTrader is a broker neutral trading platform, so we are unable to speak in regards to costs for opening accounts, or any broker end fee’s.

Once you are ready to trade live to a supported brokerage partner, you will want to make your purchase of either a lease version or a Lifetime License.

Purchasing a lifetime license is by far the best value if you are planning on trading long-term. A lifetime license will be with you as long as you are trading and will include all future upgrades to our software. You will also have the freedom to switch brokers at any time and still keep the same award-winning platform.

To purchase our best value of NinjaTrader, a lifetime license which includes free upgrades for life, please visit the following link:
    http://www.ninjatrader.com/purchase-own.php

To view our other licensing options, please use the following link:
    http://www.ninjatrader.com/purchase-lease.php

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance throughout your purchase process.

        Hello Julesocean,

        Thank you for your note.

So I can be of further assistance, are you referring to Mirus Futures? If so, you will want to contact them directly to find out if they will support your specific Canadian Province. In some cases, it may depend on the Province and if it is supported or not.

I have included the Mirus Futures contact page below:

        Mirus Futures - https://www.mirusfutures.com/zen-fir...g_demo_account

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

        Have a great day,
        Brian

I have also included the NinjaTrader purchase pages below. To purchase our best value of NinjaTrader, a lifetime license which includes free upgrades for life, please visit the following link:

          5000 dollar minimum for Zaner.

Is 1000 dollars deposit minimum for BC, Canada, the stuff of legends? Wish I could find a broker with that.

Hi Julesocean, I am also in BC. I was looking at Interactive Brokers...heard that they will telll you they have a min requirement, but that if you go thru the application process then fund your account afterwards I don;t think they are going to turn around and shut you down for having less than what they are looking for. ( I was told something like this by an IB rep I spoke to on the phone). Don't know if it is true but will find out I guess.

Unfortunately Mirus was not an option when I inquired as they woudl not service BC as they do not have an office here (I sure hope they change this soon!) This is apparently due to regulatory reasons that say they may not service a province without a physical office..if I remember correctly.

Also if you don't mind, could you let me know which brokers other than IB and Zaner you found in BC (regardless of the deposit required). Did they support Ninjatrader? Thanks.

              Hi julesocean,

Due to certain regulations only certain brokers will support trading in BC, and among NinjaTrader's supported brokers the following brokers should work:

              Interactive Brokers: http://www.interactivebrokers.ca/en/main.php

              and Zaner Futures: http://www.zaner.com/

Additionally, for other brokers please see: http://www.ninjatrader.com/partners

The only two I have found, thanks for this information on IB though, I really feel confident about them now.

Are these the only 2 off the partners page that support BC? Would it be worth me inquiring to all of those partners asking? Or are these 2 for sure the only ones?

                      Canadian-friendly FCM?

Looks like I'm done with Mirus, but then RCG and Dorman are no longer supporting Canadian account holders.

Any recommendations for BC Canada for new Ninjatraders?

                      Thanks

                        Hello sanjuro,

                        Thank you for your post.

If you are located in BC, Canada, and interested in using NinjaTrader 7 for futures trading, we would like to highlight RJ O'Brien and Interactive Brokers from our list of supported brokers:

I would also like to point out that you can now search by parameters such as supported markets and location from the "Broker" page of the NinjaTrader website:

Please feel free to contact us if you are ever in need of support.

Just wanted to give an update for this thread.

Zaner futures no longer takes BC residents. RJ O'Brien does not have any Ninjatrader connection anymore (according to a rep I spoke to a couple of years ago). They have connections for Sierra Charts though.

I have had futures accounts with Cunningham Commodities and also Ironbeam for the last few years through GFF Brokers which used to be Global Futures. Cunningham does not support a Ninjatrader connection but Ironbeam does. To get an account with Ironbeam you need to go through GFF Brokers.

GFF Brokers provides low-cost futures brokerage services and trading technology solutions backed by quality customer service and support.

The reason why so many US brokers do not take Canadian clients is about regulations and fees, not about taxes. US brokers who want to take Canadians as clients must pay a very large fee to be registered as a broker in Canada. Registered brokers such as IB are covered under the Canadian Investors Protection Fund and so clients (do not have to be Canadians but even non-Canadians can take advantage of this insurance fund) are covered for a total of $1 million Cdn across all accounts that they have with a broker that is covered under the CIPF.

CIPF provides limited protection for property held by a member firm on behalf of an eligible client, if the member firm becomes insolvent.

                            Hello Delerium,

                            Thank you for your reply.

You are correct. At this time, Global Futures, clearing through Ironbeam, would be the best brokerage option for futures traders in Canada.
