...: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine

    Hello,

Today Thursday at 14:04 European central time I got a connection loss where it said in Control Center Log:

"Connection to NinjaTrader historical market data server lost: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine"

Could someone please tell me why this is happening?

Data provider is CQG and NT version is 7.0.1000.13 downloaded yesterday the 1st of May. NinjaTrader is running as 64 bit.

    OS is Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.

    Thanks,
    Laurus

    Hello Laurus,

Thank you for your forum post.

NinjaTrader behaves like a radio receiver in that it receives signals from the connected server. If the signals are not coming through, the underlying broker/market data vendor API reports this to the NinjaTrader application which in turn reports this back to you. Once a loss of connection is reported, NinjaTrader or the underlying API will continuously try to re-establish a connection.
Common reasons that contribute to connection stability are:
    • ISP issues
    • Hardware firewall changing IP addresses frequently
    • Dynamic IP addresses changing frequently intraday. Usually this happens once a week but you may want to check with your ISP. If they do change daily, requesting a static IP address may help.
    • Broker/market data servers may be experiencing temporary downtime

In order to help determine why this is occurring, can you give me more information regarding your internet connection? Do you use a hardwired, or a wireless connection?

I can investigate the disconnection you received more closely.

Please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with "ATTN: Ryan L." in the subject line.

In the message, please include the following:
1.) A link to this forum thread.
2.) You will find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
    • The trace file will be named "trace.YYYYMMDD.txt"

      Thanks Ryan for quick response.

Just for the record I forgot to tell that I do not use any firewall or antivirus. Everything unnecessary is turned off.

My computer is hardwired directly to the ADSL2+ modem router, and I have a static ip-address on my computer.

It is interesting that you mention ISP and Dynamic IP addresses changing frequently intraday. I have not thought about that. I'll check that out.

I'll send you the file as requested.

      Thanks a lot,
      Laurus

Just an update regarding ISP ip address lease time.

I spoke to my ISP and they told me that the lease time was 24 hours. So if I restarted the modem router during market close it would always be renewed during that time.

        Useful to know.
