Connecting to two brokers at the same time

    Dear Sir,

I have a charting program using IQFeed. The buying signal is generated from the charts and I enter the order manually through Ninja Trader with COG as datafeed. The chart I used is a constant range chart. Since the datafeed is different, the chart from NinjaTrader would be different from the charts in my charting program. I would like to see the same chart in NinjaTrader with the buy and sell markers showing the trading record These will help me to analyse my trades.

Is the following possible? Can I create two account connections, one with COG and one with IQFeed in Ninja Trader. Primarily, I will enter order with COG but when I do the charting, I will switch over to IQFeed. Will the buy/sell records used with COG appear in the chart with IQFeed. Since two datafeeds are used, will this mix up the data in NinjaTrader database? Are there better ways of achieving what I want?

    Thanks.

    Tiffany

      Dear Sir,

I understand I can connect to two data sources simultaneously but can I achieve what I want as described. Trade live with COG but plot the buy/sell trade record on a chart with data from IQFeed.

      Thanks.

        Hello Tiffany,

Yes, if you connect to IQFeed first, data will come from IQFeed.

You can then select your CQG account to trade.

          Dear Sir,

After connecting to IQFeed, how can I connect to COG to trade. Do I need to disconnect from IQFeed first? If not, how to do that. Both IQFeed and COG provides future data. How can I trade through COG but plot chart according to IQFeed?

          Thanks.

              2 brokers

              hi,
i am also thinking about to use 2 brokers, because one has historical data and the other one has great commissions with intraday data.
(so i should connect to the broker with hist data first ?)
im just scared that 2 broker connections slow down each other, because too much data feeds coming in.. i dont want to create chaos..
maybe its better to keep it simple and stay with one broker and pay little bit more commission
              thanks for your opinion
              regards

                Hello,

                Thank you for your note.

You would want to connect first to the broker you intend to use as a data source. Use of multiple brokers should not result in performance issues of any kind.
