Wrong data on chart - but correct in db & cache ?!!!

    Wrong data on chart - but correct in db & cache ?!!!

    Hi there,

    I am facing the following situation:

    - Ninja R12 started Sunday 4/28 afternooon
    - Disconnected / Reconnected to datafeed a few times during the week, last reconnection on 5/2 2:53 AM
    - On 5/2 at 9:16am, I did a manual reload all historical data on my strategy chart
    - It appears the data displayed on that chart is wrong (missing data) between 2:40am & 3:01am
    - Since then, any time I load a twin chart (same instrument / timeframe) the data displayed on that chart is wrong (missing data) in the same place
    - The data in the database is correct though (I moved it to a different PC to check it)
    - The data in the cache on disk is correct (I moved it to a different PC to check it). It stops at 9:16am on 5/2, which is expected.

    So, how can Ninja display wrong data when both the database & the cache have correct data ?

    I am pretty sure this issue will go away when I restart Ninja, so at this time I keep it running, so that we have better chances of identifying what's going on.

    Can you remind me who you use for data?

    What session template are you using? Is it missing data if you switch to another session template (To be clear, I'm not saying your session template is excluding data, I'm just curious if that changes the cached data)

    Terminology sometimes gets confused here, so can you clarify where exactly you're checking in the "Database" and "Cache"?

      Hi Matthew,

      - IQfeed for data.
      - Historical Database : NinjaTrader7\db\tick\...
      - Cache on disk: NinjaTrader7\db\cache\...

      I use Nymex Metals / Energy ETH.

      I just copied the session template to a new one, and activated that new one on a chart. I still have missing data on the chart. The database shows 427 contracts transacted from 2:40:46am to 2:58:46am, in that interval the chart has only 2 bars of 100 contracts each.

      ???!!!

        Can you send me your chart data? The easiest way to do this is under Help--> Mail to support and check 'Chart data'.

          I am trying ... after doing it, Ninja has become unresponsive, even though the charts are still ticking away.

            Depending on the amount of data, this make take some time.

            If you'd like, you may manually copy and zip the appropriate folders and send that to me in an email in this way.

              Well, Ninja never recovered from trying to send that email, and as expected upon restart, the chart is showing all the data.

              In summary, Ninja was apparently using old data cached in RAM, after doing a Reload All Historical data, and despite having generated the cache on HD using correct (updated) data.

              If this can help your R&D understand the issue...
